Its not from a cfl lamp ... no way does that little guy make your bill go up that much check around for other stuff that may be causing the issue. A/c ... dehumidifier... anything else going with these grow?

If you analyze your home products you will see that the are around 500w, but you only use for 1 minute or less, like the blender. Your hot shower might be 5000w, but you use for 10 minutes a day (i dunno your shower habits). This is 300w all day, or almost that. So it's normal. You should put this numbers ($) on an sheet and analyze your grow, if it's """"Rentable"""". If you pull small amount of weed with that bill, you might consider train more growing techniques, or use a lower luminosity lamp with a better reflection system inside the tent (didn't analyzed your growing condition).

Should be pretty easy to calculate. That's a 300w lamp, it's pulling almost 1kw every 3 hours, so 8kw per day at 24 hours, extra 240kw per month. The normal usage of a big house might be 4kw, so adding 8kw is triple the usage. With a look at your bill it can easily cleared up.
