bruxupanswered grow question 4 years ago Hey there. This is only my second season growing since legalization, but so far I've had success with White Widow, Blue Dream, Girl Scout Cookies and Purple Kush. I'm in Toronto, ON. I did get some mould and bud rot on Purple Kush, but I only lost a couple branches and was still able to harvest majority of the plant. The White Widow I planted last year turned out pretty good for my first attempt, but I did have a couple plants at my cottage that I basically had to throw away because of rot, but I blame it more on the fact that they weren't maintained as much. The best advice I can give is to be on top of your garden and try to maintain it as often as you can. It's important to do research on your strains, and check to see their resistances to things like pests, and mould, but it is never a guarantee. Especially in September and October when the weather is more wet for us, and frost isn't necessarily out of the quesiton either. Make sure you trim back some big fan leaves that might be growing in the middle of the plant, they aren't getting any sunlight, and they just constantly collect and drip water onto the buds underneath them. Even though I plant outdoors, I still put them in pots so if weather does get bad, I can move them or try to shelter them better. A canopy or greenhouse is ideal for the last couple weeks before harvest, but you could also rig up some sort of tarp to keep them from getting soaked in the rain. Other than that, when the rain stops try to shake off the plants to knock off any large droplets of water, and it doesn't hurt to do this in morning after the dew sets in, if you can. Just try to keep an eye on your plants and the Weather Channel as much as possible. Hope this helps! Cheers!
