Use a fabric pot or an “Air-Pot” to prevent this from ever happening, when the roots reach air, they “prune” themselves and start to laterally branch, they never get root bound.

No, you just need to pot up. When you do it, gently loosen the roots up so they open up again, don't worry if some break they will grow more.

Looks quite normal. Just next time don’t let your plant grow too long in a small container, it’s cuts off its potential. Just re pot in a bigger pot and you should be fine, just will take couple days to get used to it’s medium.

Transplant to a larger pot and add some root growth supplement. I use Easy Roots Mycorrhiza Mix by RQS

You can cut the roots to open the ball and make sure that the roots fill the whole new pot in all direction well, don't worry, they will recovery quiet easily
