Frigaultanswered grow question 4 years ago The darness jours explained...
Most people are unaware. But when terpenes are exposed to high lighy and warm temperature they evaporate some evaporate at room temperature. (A reason we recommend cool drying and cure (under room temperature if fungibisent a risk even cooler) so everyday you turn the light on and terpene evaporate leaving a good smell in the house. And every night the plany regenerates its terpene profils. The heat and light can also degrade thc as well but its regenerating and degradation id diffrent. Since terpene is a direct enhancer of the high you get. Many assume the longbdarness before harvest boost thc when in fact it replenish the plant of its terpinoids. This his a reason we recommend cutting in the dark or at first light or we people incorporate a col flowering phase.
Now for how long shoud it be done 24h 48h 72h. Has been the center of debates over many decades..
but but since thc neds darkness to rippen and terpinoids need darkness to replenish. We know 12 hours if darkness makes sences. A prolonge periode of time will force the plant to exaust all its energy and use up its sugar. Is there a diffrence bettween 24 48 72... Not enough testing have been done to prove it. But we all agree it taste and smell better then when harvested during the days if the drying and curing is dine right. If the drying curing procees isen't done right you'll see no diffrence.. i wish i could do a few 100 clone in with diffrent darness period to get a dirrect answer to what actually happenbin terms of number. But i'm way to busy with breeding schedual.
