How do I defoliate properly ? Any clear cut guides...

There isn't really a set rule across the board neither is it absolutely necessary to do. The most extreme versions are called mainline /manifold or look up swazzing. But it all depends on your goal in the end. Why you want to defoliate?

Just remember, every healthy green leaf you remove will reduce your plants capacity to produce energy. Less healthy green leaves = less energy produced = less growth. Personally, I do not remove any leaf unless it has gone yellow. Cannabis has not evolved to get rid of perfectly healthy leaves for no apparent reason. She needs every single healthy green leaf she has, to produce the energy she needs to grow her biggest and best flowers. All new growth is relying on older leaves to make the energy they need for them to grow. In my opinion, there is no reason why any defoliation should occur and I regard it as counter-productive. Maximum healthy green leaves = maximum energy produced = maximum growth. Hope this helps..... Organoman.

Yes, science says defoliation may decrease yields and quality. Any fan leaf that is green, is photosynthesizing light into food for the plant. It might work, but most of the pro's don't do it. They might prune the under bush or damaged leaves, but removing active leaves doesn't seem to be done by experts like Ed Rosenthal and Jorge Cervantes.
