Lighting Horsepower

I have a Horticultural Lighting Group 260 QB V2 R Spec light (260 watt LED). I previously had a 20" x 36" tent and the light was great. I have just gotten a 36" (91cm) x 36" (91cm) tent and wondering if this is enough power for great production or if more light would be better?

3x3 = 9 sq. Ft. 260W ÷ 9 sq. Ft. = 28.889 watts per square foot. It does seem a little on the low side. It will get you by. You probably won't crush a pound in a 3x3 with this light. Recommend to find additional lighting or keep the grow small with only 2 plants.

I have a 3x3 with 2 of your lights(minus the r spec) . Been having great results. However I wish I had gotten the 200cm height tent instead of a 180cm. As I often have to turn both lights down a bit, as they are super intense. So keep in mind with 2 lights you will need some height in a 3x3. Also the tent will be hotter so make sure your extractor fan has enough power. They are killer lights . Good luck 🌱

Thank you for the quick replies. I have ordered another HLG 260. My gut was telling me that I wouldn't be happy with the amount of light in the larger tent but it's good to hear other's opinions to make sure I'm not going off the rails. I started with the 260 in the smaller tent at reduced power but had been inching the power up with each grow. The last one I ran the light at full power, about 52 watts/foot and got tremendous yield. I'll have to run the two lights at reduced power but it should provide really nice, even light with almost no shadowing. And if one light dies my garden won't be completely in the dark until I get it fixed.

Hey Mate, Due to the specification on their website it's good for 90x90cm (3x3) from Veg to Bloom.. Good luck, Servus✌️
