Root rot after res changes

So I changed my reservoir water yesterday after about 9 days recovery from the case of root rot I had, and now it looks like it’s trying to come back. Water temps are low at 61 F right now. What can I do to stop this going forward?

The most common cause of root rot in DWC systems is insufficient oxygen, so I would take a look at your aeration system and make sure you are getting a lot of air moving through that res.

Turns out this was some form of brown algae. The chlorine in my tap water was killing all the beneficial bacteria I was adding at res change time. I started adding the bennies after a couple days which was a quick bandaid. Then I started bubbling out my res change water ahead of time and switched to UC Roots. This has completely resolved the issue. Tons of new roots that are white as snow.

The water in my bucket looks like it’s boiling so I don’t think it’s lack of oxygen in the water. I’ve also taken steps to light proof the res and lowered my water level to several inches below the net pot. I also use Hydroguard and have since the beginning of the grow. Since the water temperature is so low I didn’t expect any more problems.
