Any advice on how to prevent excessive stretch in the first few weeks of bloom. I would like the nodes to be closer together for nicer top colas.

Just have the right environment. Growth is slower during the day and they stretch more at night. If they're stretching too much, there's probably added growth during the day which points to the lighting being too weak. Make sure you're at the right height. Your internodal spacing doesn't look bad though.

3500k colour spectrums will give you tighter node spacing instead of a 3k. I also heard that adding extra silica to the mix reduces node spacing a little. But looking at your pic I say that looks good. They will fill in as the buds grow.

I dont know any effective way not to let them stretch to much,,, out of choosing the right strains,,, or keepeing them small in switching earlier to flower and doing training on them. strong lights keep them down too... but i dont recommend to blast them, ... so iam very courious to the answers too
