I will just say one thing on the matter, and it is a botanical fact -
"Maximum amount of healthy, green leaves = maximum energy production = maximum growth."
Quite simple really!
Or - less leaves = less energy produced = less/slower growth.
Some light, well considered "lollipopping", removing the small and lower branches, but leaving the fan leaves can make life easier when it comes to harvest/trimming time though.
Try and only remove yellow leaves, for by the time they are yellow, they have served their purpose.
After 35+ years growing, I am yet to see any plant that gets rid of its own perfectly healthy, green, energy producing leaves, for no reason or benefit, ever!
Cannabis has evolved to grow her biggest and best flowers.
Getting rid of perfectly healthy green leaves, is not part of that process.
Well, I guess I had more than one thing to say, but I am strongly opposed to any defoliation, especially of the removal of healthy, green, energy producing leaves.
Crap like "removing leaves will cause energy to be channelled into flower growth" is so scientifically wrong, people who believe it just don't understand how plants function or grow. All energy is used throughout the entire plant. A plant can not decide where the energy goes, it does not have a brain, so can not make decisions on where the energy goes! Besides, with less leaves there is less energy, so even if the was a way to "channel" energy, there would be less energy to "channel" anyhow, meaning growth would be slowed as a result of the defoliation, and not enhanced.
Hope this helps,.........
