I have my sf-1000 plugged to a timer. When it’s in « off » my light is not totally off and still do some little bit of light. It’s vont a lot at all but I was wondering if it’s not a problem for my plants? Is it normal?

Check your ground on other devices (loads): pumps, tank chillers, heaters, etc....

Yes that will be a problem when you go to flower. I recommend to prevent back feed from timer motor windings, use a relay. This will allow you to completely shut your lights.

When I plug directly my light without the timer and that I switch to off on the light, the led keep running verry low as well, but as soon as I unplug it turns off Many thanks to you all for your responses and your concern!

I would stick with @ORGANOMAN, I am also in electronics and you've got an electrical problem somewhere. Change the device on the timer and try that for a few minutes, stick your fan in that socket or something, if it still works, seems like a faulty timer - or get a multimeter on it to test it out when its in the 'off' position.

Haunted lights booooooooo. Did you piss off anyone that died booooooooooo. Hit the driver with a hammer might fix the problem. I remember that worked with my tv when i was a kid but i used my fist on the top of the tv.

What Organoman said!! You need to inspect all that real well. IT IS NOT NORMAL TO STILL BE ON AFTER HOURS OF BEING OFF!!!

If what bandit600 said doesn't work then listen to organoman. That light could be a fire hazard. We would like to keep you around growing not burning to death.

Any residual power from the drivers should discharge after a few seconds, a minute at most and definitely not nearly 9 hours later. You have an electrical problem somewhere, either the timer or the light. Personally I would not leave the house with any of them running unsupervised. A house is worth a lot more than a 20 dollar timer or a few hundred dollar light! As a former B class electrician, I can assure you, you have an unsafe and faulty electrical device period. And the biggest cause of home fires, - faulty electrical devices, and yes, I am a former fire fighter too! I feel compelled to warn you to stop using either until they are repaired or the best option, replaced. There is obviously a trickle of electricity getting through the timer, just enough to power some dim lights, but not enough to power the light fully. There should be absolutely no lights on after the timer has been in the off position for nearly 9 hours! Do I make myself clear! YOU HAVE AN ELECTRICAL FAULT SOMEWHERE. Do yo want to possibly die in a house fire all for the sake of not replacing a 20 dollar timer?

I think it’s not the timer because even when I switch the on/off button on my light it doesn’t change anything. I would say there is still some power in my driver and that’s why some led are still on.. but it’s weird because that picture was at 2:50am an my lights stops at 18pm so it was few hours after. Also it’s not all the leds that run but a few of them.

@organoman, its obviously not going to be like that throughout the whole night. Its clearly the LEDs discharging the last bit of power. Just like when you unplug a charger with an LED on it. It's not possible for a timer to let out small amounts of power. Its on/off.

Please ignore what InspireMe said, you could have an electrical fault in your set up and the last thing you need is a fire.

If they are staying on, even if only dimly for any longer than a few seconds after the timer goes off, there is a problem and a potentially dangerous one. And yes, it will affect your plants, especially if you intend growing photoperiod plants. I had another thought, does it do the same thing if you plug it in directly without the timer in place, then switch it off? If not, it could be a faulty timer. Either way something is not right and talking to someone at your local friendly grow shop might help. Hope this helps, Organoman.

It wont be a problem mate, they adjust to the level of darkness they get. Think about in there natural environment, it's not always 100% pitch black, they have the moon, starts etc. I wouldnt worry. It will be consistent every night. Its unusual large amounts of light that will stress them. Hope this helps 🙂

I would get rid of that timer, it might be a (fire)hazard. When in off no power should reach the light, the fact it does means there is circuitproblems. You don't want any light at night. Are you sure its not residual power from the driver, that dies down over time?

Does it stay on like that constantly or does it go out after the remaining power leaves the driver. What happens if you unplug it. If you unplug it and it goes out instantly then your timer is still letting power through and you will need replace your timer. If you unplug it and light stays on but dim then there is still power in the driver, which will deplete after a bit.
