Should I use both veg and bloom channels if my light is only 250w combined?

it might be useful to use only vege in seedling stage when it can't quite handle full intensity of your light. The moment the plants can handle more, i would turn it on. Very unlikely you are at 'max' DLI relative to environmental factors. So, more can only help. Watch for any unusual wilt or pale spots forming at the top. If it starts to cower from light, it's too much. If internode is too short, it's too much ( -- you'll see the nodes stacking on top of each other with no space between). -- too little light and you get lengthy internodes - plant is "stretching" too much. The plant will tell you if anything is wrong. Find that upper limit, then dial back a bit from damaging plant. Take measurements and stick to that in future (height, lux or par meter)... always push border a bit from time to time. Lights also lose intensity over time, so if you have a cheap lux meter, you can see that occur, then adjust as needed to regain intended intensity. *Lux meter values do not work for different lights.. must be "your" light only. if you buy a new one, re-measure at intended height for new lux value - it is proportional to "PAR" but can be apples and oranges readings for different lights with different characteristics of light produced. PAR - the wavelengths proportionally weighted relative to photosynthesis. Lux does not weigh the wavelengths the same way, but is still proportional to intensity... so a ~25% loss of lux will also be a ~25% loss of par. Any change in specs of light used needs a re-measurement though. So, it's not as useful as par/ppfd, but WAY cheaper and only slightly a pita to use by comparison.
