How long should it normally take for a seed to germinate and be ready for planting? My seed has taken a while and the taproot hasn't even fully come out yet.

Generally it will take from hours to a couple days. I have had some take 7 days but that is the longest my patience will last. I was under the impression the sooner they popped, the better the genetics - but I was wrong. My biggest, best plant took all of 7 days! We LIKE using different genetics, well some of them are just slower to get started....but make up for it at the finish! Kepp 'em growing!

In my experience they can take anywhere from a few hours (sprouts in the water) to a week- define "a while". as the other individual stated, unfortunately not all seeds will germinate.

A few hours to even 7 days. Remember not all seeds germinate. If the shell popped you can help your plant a bit and GENTLY remove the shell, but remember that even the slightest damage can kill your plant at this point.

Anywhere from 24-72 hours is a good bet. Some are faster than other and some seeds are bunk.
