I wouldn't top an auto I would Just keep tieing the main over and letting its other branching grow upwards. If you stress the plant out to much it might flower early and you will be stuck with a 15 inch tall flowing plant . What you can do is remove the two big top leaves from it and that will slow its main stem growth so the other branching can catch up. You want to try to keep your canopy as even as possible to get as much as you can . Check out my rando clone wars diary . It's a 4 plant 4x4 scrogged not autos though .

I have never grown Bruce Banner photo or auto but I have not had a problem keeping a plant's height under control. I start low stress training early to keep that central stem growing horizontally and allow more time for the laterals to get longer. The downside is you need the space to push your plants outward. You can get away with a bit more if growing photo plants because you can switch them to flower whenever you want. Auto's are going to grow on their own schedule so you have less control over the plant's size.
