I wonder if adding top dressing of worm castings to coco coir will be beneficial or defeat the purpose of a soil-less approach? Any informed advice and suggestion is welcome.

No need to make your first grow more complicated than it needs to be. I would recommend making your grow as conventional as possible. Focus on finding the correct lighting levels, creating a full canopy before switching to flower and not killing your plants by adding too many nutrients. Generally speaking, there are enough variables balancing these components, especially in an LED/coco grow, that adding another won't benefit you much if at all. Growing is fun but most of us screw up many times before we get it right so patience and astute observation is key. Good luck.

If you wanted to go organic, then why use coco? Anyway, to answer your question, yes you can do it.

I know some people mix up their own coco+ other ingredients...but if youre doing straight coco I think its recommended to start off with any suitable hydroponic nutrient schedule.....and for some reason coco seems to most often need additional cal mag supplement, so keep that in mind with what you're already using...check labels etc. Or just pick up a straight cal mag. Best of luck happy growing. Congrats on the 1st! And I love the fuzzy taproot pic :)

Yes it would chance the dynamic and the point of your coco. It will hold some of your nutes and release others at times that your not expecting. So to be it would be best not to mix styles. If you wanted to gain some of the benefits of the worm castings you could put them in water to make a tea then just screen out the solids and feed the liquid part

Adding worm castings to your coco coir wouldn’t defeat the purpose of a soilless media. It can be beneficial as worm castings are an organic alternative nutrient resorce as opposed to a manufactured nutrient compound. Some nutrient brands such as fox farms also include worm castings in them. Good luck on your grow I will watch for any other questions.
