Can one top an Auto (10-14 week strain) in late 4th week? I’ve been topping on day 21 since growing autos but feel there room based on past grows. Advantages/Disadvantages if done before preflower?

Most people generally don’t top an auto but your plant is looking like fire and you’ve got a good grasp of what you’re doing by the looks of it. So I say if you’re having success doing what you do then don’t change bro. It sounds like you already know when to do this strategically as to not stress the plant at critical phases. Obviously the short lifespan of an auto makes it less desirable to stress it through its life. But a plant is a plant and it can be topped. But topping before preflower is gonna decreases bud sites. I don’t think there’s benefits from doing this at this point. Cheers 🤙

I've ran two side by side autos and every time I topped them by accident "week 6-8 outdoor" or on purpose "week 3-4 indoor" they've always out preformed the other un-topped plants. It is strain dependant a lot of the time I think. If the auto you are growing is smaller and less aggressive in growth I'd probably not top it. But if your wiling to try, do it. I'm also using LST with any auto and that alone can be just as effect as topping it with no LST in my limited experience. Best of luck

Because of my personal experiences (just a bit more than one year) I don't think that to top an auto is a good idea, expecially the main branch. Topping in middle flowering will only late the ripening. The only pruning I suggest with autos are lollipopping and defoliation.
