A few years ago I met a professional photographer who shot marijuana for advertisements. They start with a perfect looking bud. Sometime bud is grown specifically for it's color. They will mess with the nutrients, temperature and other conditions to force the plant to produce the desired colors. Then add in some professional lighting and time in Photoshop turning up the colors that are currently popular. So, these days most professional photos will be more frosty or purple than occurs naturally.

Substrate, nutrition, experience, temps. All play a roll. Plus in some cases I think they grow just a few colas on a strong plant to get a big fat bud on picture. Cor morphing happens late flowering. Especially if a proper flush and fade time is given.

This is a common misconception among new growers that the photos are gonna look like what you’ll get. There are phenotype expressions that will be different from plant to plant even with legit breeders. Then there’s not legit breeders that just slap up a stock photo of blue dream and use questionable breeding practices to get the seeds you got.. When it is a legit breeder - they are showing pictures of the very best possible result from commercial like facilities.. so homegrowing will give a bit different results but at the end of the day if it smokes like you want that’s all that should matter.

Hello. When the seed breeders test their seeds they get the best plant and take pictures of that one. They might test hundreds of seeds. They also have to test THC test them as well. That's how they get their THC % numbers. There will be only one or two plants out of 500 that look like the pictures from the breeders or have as high THC% content as they say. That is why we grow more than one seed of a strain. Chuck.

@orangemuddi could be one of many reasons such as yours not being the real blue dream or maybe it is but your plant is displaying distinctly different phenotype characteristics ?? for me the proof is in the final product and if you are happy with that then I wouldnt worry too much about Names of strains
