Excess leaf growth

DurbanPoison420
DurbanPoison420started grow question 2 years ago
Is this excess leaf growth around bud sights normal for particular strains? I'm thinking it could be too much Nitrogen during flower but I'm not sure. Would appreciate any tips on getting the plant to focus its energy on buds rather than leaf growth. (Fyi, it is a sativa)

Leaves are normal during flower in fact I defoliate my big fan leaves 2 to 3 times during flower this will help stimulate bud development. But don’t over trim. Just large fan leaves.

@gottagrowsometime i wish he linked the diary as well but 600w hid is barely acceptable light for 120x120 and sativas like a lot of light so i’m sticking with my insufficient light as a possible cause for small flowers theory. also dont see how an auto can be pure sativa, it has ruderalis genetics in there so i can not fathom that statement made by the seedbank in general.

@growinggrannie do you grow sativas? pure sativas bulk up real nice under good light and in rich soil. they will grow massive buds and will out yield any indicas or indica heavy strains. indicas finish faster so they yield better in the sense that you’ll use less electricity and will be able to do more runs per any given time period but i’ve gotten consistent results for years that sativas in the end will weigh much heavier on the scale.

This is perfectly normal and your plant looks really good - nice and frosty! These leaves grow on any cannabis strain - it's just what they do! The buds will grow and bulk up but don't expect massive buds since this is a sativa... Indica has MUCH larger flowers - it's just the difference between the two. Your grow looks fabulous - no worries!! Good luck!

If you read his diary you'll see it's not because of insufficient light. You have nice bud density so idk what he's talking about. As for the plant. She looks 100% normal. The whole N during flower, hmm idk about that but ye, she looks normal pal. Good luck with drying/curing

i dont see excessive leaf growth per se just small flowers. it can be insufficent lighting in your case but some plants do produce leafy buds and there is not much you can do about genetics.
