I've read a lot when it pertains to defoliation. My plan is to wait a week or two longer before I defoliat them for the first time. Any suggestions on defoliation? I understand trimming leaves that block bud sites bud any other advice would be helpful!

No other advice than tucking the leaves that are blocking light to the lower budsite and it is the only reason to defoliate except if you wanna go fancy. Don't remove a leaf that the plant could use if this leaf is not blocking light because it will be used by the plant for photosynthesis

When I defol I usually do a heavy one right before the flip to flower and 2-3 weeks after the flip. I remove any leaves blocking light from reaching deeper into the plant or ones that block airflow. I also tend to strip growth off the bottom 1/3rd of my plants as that usually doesn't grow into anything worthwhile. After the last big defol I will take a few leaves here and there to keep light reaching deep but I don't go crazy with it. Your plant, however, is quite small and lanky. You probably don't even need to bother with doing defoliation right now. just bend the branches to open the plant up and allow more light to the lower parts.

Your plant is on the small side defoliating this plant would do more harm than good since it has very few fan leaves. If she was larger and had way too many fan leaves I would suggest doing it but in this case no you will be creating unneeded stress to her. You would be better off doing some leaf tucking/tying to allow more light to get to the bud sites. She looks like she is stretching so light getting to the bud sites may not be an issue. Hope this helps👍

U can defoliate all those big ones except the ones near the top of each branch. And not any of the new growth don't cut. U should have 2 or 4 big fan leaves only at the tip of a main branch. Don't worry your plant still is making new leaves. In a week she probably already re leafed. Just go slow not all at one time and stop at week 4 flower
