Light spectrum during veg and bloom periods

Natrona
Natronastarted grow question a year ago
I have 2 1000w full spectrum lights. Each light has 2 switches-a veg button and a bloom button. This gives 3 settings for the lights-veg only, bloom only and both lights on at the same time. What settings should I use during Veg and during flower and how close should I hang them?

there are differenecs, but it's always relative to genetics.. there's no spectrum you can give a naturally lanky difficult to branch out plant into a small bush... in fact it'll still be a lanky sativa-like structure even if you give the "best" light for increased axillary growth. So, worry less about that and more about DLI. you want to be giving upwards of 40DLI to your plants - wither 12 hours or 18 hours - or - over 1m^2 or 3m^2. The amount of umol/s of light you provide is far greater concern than your spectrum at this point, especially given most grow lights fall in a small CCT range and similar SFDs. the amount you give per day is proportional to hours of use. Since you have an autoflower you don't have to worry about that. Also, since you don't have to drop to 12/12 light cycle, you don't need to find 50% more light than what you were able to give before (assumes same area of coverage), which means you can cover 50% more area with your light over 18hours vs 12, but you also run it 50% longer. it doesn't save watts.. just can provide a bit less per hour over the course of a day.

During growing and playflowering use grow spectrum. Once you see pistils youse both bloom and grow together

I use both veg and bloom switched on together from day one until harvest day and believe this produces superior results. However, normally you use veg for veg (!) and veg AND bloom for flowering. You never use only bloom on its own for flowering. Seedlings 24 inches Veg 18 inches Flowering 12 inches. If in doubt, check the manufacturers' website, they have all the info.

A lot of people get confused when using a grow light that comes with separate "VEG" and "BLOOM" switches. Ironic that manufacturers included this option without really explaining how to use it. Naturally you would think when your plants are in the "Vegetative Growth" stage that you would turn ON the "VEG" switch. This is correct. The confusion arises in the "Bloom" stage where without proper knowledge you would naturally turn ON the "BLOOM" switch and turn OFF the "VEG" switch. DO NOT DO THIS. Even though plants are in their bloom stage and thrive off the "RED" light emitted by the Bloom mode they still require some blue and green light to really thrive. Always have both switches ON (VEG and BLOOM) once you plants are in the Blooming stage.

You can use both your bloom and veg switch during most of the grow, keep it on veg 50% I'd you have a dimmer if not hang pretty high since 1000w is quite a bit to blast a seedling with your lights manual should have hanging specs for different stages of growth.

Vegging only during vegging. And when the first white pistils appear you can switch to bloom only. When you do this you've get the most out of your used watts. Start with the lamps on 50cm and you can lower this slowely during your grow. When the top leaves start to curl up from heatstress move it back to the previous hight and than you know your sweetspot (the perfect hight).
