Auto Newb defoliation question

These girls are throwing out an insane number of branches, and I'm running out of room to train them and open her up. Is it common practice, similar to main-lining, to trim out the lower larf-y bud sites and branches, or do you leave everything?

Topping, mainlining, other high stress tecniques are not advised for autoflowers at all - but defoliation? Certainly... and that includes trimming off lower branches and larfy bud sites... but do it slowly - a little bit one day, a little more the next kind of thing - so as to not stress her out. Trying to contain some autoflowers can be quite the chore ... take a look at what I had to do in this grow - zoom in on the tent and you can see I had to LST and even HST here there and everywhere.... and defoliating madly... growdiaries.com/diaries/131673-grow-journal-by-growinggrannie/week/728349 - you just have to find a way, make a way! Good luck - I feel your pain!!

There's nothing wrong with lollipopping autoflowers. I wouldn't remove branches unless they are tiny and won't become a part of the first or second canopy, though. Branches are where your buds are, so less branches mean less buds. But, those little branches that don't get much light will end up acting as sucker branches, more or less. They will take more energy than they are worth. If you're new here, please select the answer that helped you out the most by clicking on the "answer" button underneath what the person said. It’s preference but I cut a lot off to focus on the main 8 that I run. I do 2-toppings of the main and then allow only 2 side branches— lollipopping the lowers leaves and bush. If you leave it, you are more prone to herms, airflow issues like PM, and it depletes the energy to the tops. Good luck! ✌️💚🌿💨
