If it’s from seed, I count veg from the first true leaves. If it’s a clone, I count veg once it’s established and growing again. I’ve also read that the first 2 weeks after germination are considered seedling stage, then veg count starts.

Was pretty sure someone had already said this, but doesn’t seem to be the case. The seedling stage normally starts when your seed breaks ground and opens its existing “baby leaves”. And the end of this stage/start if veg is normally considered to be when your seedling has 3 nodes. In my ongoing grow, It took 3 days to germinate and 10 days to transition from seedling to veg after that 🙏

Hello Kwczekus, after growing the first set of fan leaves with a complete set of leaflets, the plant goes from being a seedling to the vegetative stage. Now the plant grows only stems and leaves (not flowers or “buds”) and focuses all its energy on growing big and strong. Enjoy your grow!

Anything under 2 weeks of age when the seed cracks is technically in vegetative growth. The plant lacks the hormones to go into flower or generative growth. Photoperoids won't be mature till week 4/5 ish even on 12/12. autos/fastsflowers can throw a curve ball in that logic and sometimes flower before that time set 4/5 weeks regardless of the light cycle.
