Personally, I think it depends on how serious you want to be about the cultivation of your cannabis. The fact that you are placing this question probably means you care, so trust in your ability to care for your plants. Something that might help make you feel more secure about your plant's journey, your experience, and ability to cultivate might include adding some science to the way you germinate. So, soak you seeds in a cup of water with a half drop of hydrogen peroxide at 3%, adjust the pH, wait between 12 to 16 hours, place your soaked seeds on top/inside of a dry paper towel you folded, grab your plastic baggy, place the paper towel inside, get a spray bottle, adjust the pH, and spray your seeds until the towel is moistened. Close the baggy and place it somewhere dark and safe. Continue the same level of attention to detail through the seedling stage, and you will worry a lot less about how important the germination period is for your seeds. It takes a bit of time, but like I said, the germination stage is as important as you make it. One thing I will say is that with all the science happening to seeds at this time in the industry, letting nature do its thing is probably not the best idea, since the seeds you likely buy at the store or find in bags are so dependent on humans that getting some to start in nature probably exposes them to so many negatives that can literally change your plant's morphology and yields. But then again, being too perfect has its downside also.
