What is your opinion on seed breeders? Who are the top 3 and what makes them a top 3 and how do you know they aren't full of shit? How do you know, and who do you trust to do proper breeding, like pheno hunting, back crossing and so forth?

Statistically, the larger your sample, the more likely you are to find what you're looking for. As a result, doing a pheno hunt with less than ten plants is more about finding the best strain in a pack of seeds to grow clones again and possibly share them with friends, than a real breeder's job, bearing in mind that you also need space and time to stabilise your crosses. For me, the difference between European varieties and American varieties comes from the difference in consumption. Where Europeans have long been joints smokers and big hashish consumers, it's to the skunkier profiles that they usually turn; Americans have a stronger history with concentrates, which make it easier to appreciate terpene profiles, especially the sweeter ones.

The Amsterdam seed banks that have been around for decades I do trust. Especially Barney's Farm. Green House Seeds, T.H. Seeds, G13 Labs. They are trusted in my book. I grow a lot of Barney's Farm stuff. Reason i ask is i watched a podcast last night where they were talking about scam seed breeders, or shotty seed breeders. You know, the basement breeder that has a few 5x5 tents with like 5 females and 5 males and they call that a breeding program. I guess technically it is but you aren't going to get the best of the best doing it on a small scale. They mentioned Jungle Boys and how they attained the top blue chip pheno of Blue Dream. Apparently no one has a better blue dream than they do. And the reason for that is they are a dead serious breeder that are actually hunting for perfection. They do that by planting a room with 5000 plants of blue dream and seeking out the one special Phenotype out of 5000 plants. They say there are more than 4000 different phenotypes marijuana can express. They were also saying that Amsterdam Seed Banks have fallen behind the U.S in terms of potency and quality. And i tend to believe that because if you look at the varieties they offer these days, Blue Dream, Gelato, Zkittlez, GSC, OG Kush, Sour Diesel, Wedding Cake. Those are all creations out of the U.S. and they are infiltrating the Amsterdam seed shops as hybrids. That says something.

1. Barney's Farm: recommended by a friend, I have grown many of their varieties, vigorous plants, interesting popular terpene profiles and fairly accurate flowering times. 2. Sensi Seeds: It's the classic bank for me. But recently I've only been taking seeds from the Research collection, out of curiosity. 3. Philosopher Seeds: I've never actually bought seeds from them (I should, some varieties are really tempting) because I've received quite a few as gifts, but I haven't been disappointed with the ones I've grown. Honorable mentions: * Universally Seeded: launched by a former Cult Classic Seeds breeder, the varieties he offers are interesting (mainly Cement Shoes crosses) as they are clearly aimed at people interested in concentrates (strong terpene profiles and abundant trichomes). I've only had the chance to try Pink Power (Berry White × Pink Runtz) and I was immediately hooked. I'm always curious and mostly looking for tasty terpene profiles to put in my vaporisers. So I'm more likely to choose the strains I grow on the basis of their genealogy, even if it means picking up strains from breeders I don't know. My Top 3 is not original and I plan to try my first varieties from Anesia Seeds or Ethos Genetics soon.

If you don’t belong to the Cannabis culture and industry since a few decades it can be extremely hard to find high quality genetics. You must find a long established seed bank with Cannabis Cups winning awards strains. -Barney’s Farm -Sensi Seeds -Green House Seed Co. -Serious Seeds -Amsterdam Genetics -T.H.Seeds -Soma Seeds -Mr Nice Seeds -The Cali Connection -Humboldt Seeds

SensiSeeds, DutchPassion, RQS, GHS, BarneysFarm, Zamnesia, Nirvana... They all do a solid Job and i got what i wanted from the Strains they offer. Sensi has a bunch of Award Winners in their Cataloge wich i cant say they try to scam me here. GHS has some Vids how they literally do some Strainhunting in India, Marocco and so on... Dutch Passion is known for their Outdoor Duck Strains. RoyalQueenSeeds makes nice Guides that you only can write if you know your Stuff. Zamnesia has a nice wide Selection and their Runtz is just a treat to grow and smoke. There is so many breeders and strains today that its hard to pick one. Ill try a new one if there is a Strain that looks interesting.

Most breeders exaggerate the flowering time I find. If you like autos which you don't looking at your name🤣 I'd recommend fastbuds. For photoperiods I'd say Zamnesia, MSNL, Dutch Passion, sensi seeds. Fastbuds have been testing photoperiods which I found really good but I don't know if that's an avenue they are going to go down. You should get quite a few people reply to this post to see what others opinions are.
