I don't know if you used rooting gel to make sure none of them had air pockets in the stems. I managed that the first time. Cut off the failed rooting end above any rot, cut the stem with a razor blade at 45° angle and dipped it properly, then they took.
The ones that didn't want to clone I switched to cup cloning. Just sat them in a cup of water, changing it every two days. Adding a quarter dose of grow nute to their water made them start developing roots and cannibalize some leaves. Then I added them to soil. Foliar feeding them was a mistake as they were too lazy to grow roots. A quarter dose of grow nutes seemed essential to kick the cutting into starting root development.
They just seem happier growing their first root nubs in liquid and a cup instead of in soil. Once they have roots they go in light soil. When they're bigger they get transplanted into hotter soil.
