Not sure if the soil was already mounded up like that, and maybe that's why or you are just covering the roots that started popping out of the crown. Just have to be careful the stems don't start to rot. It may be putting the roots out because the crown below is rotting and needs to put more roots out. Could be rootbound or lack of oxygen down low as well. Sometimes healthy plants just have lots of root-making hormones. Could be and indication of too high of humidity too.

It's nothing to worry yourself over if otherwise the plant seems healthy. Some strains/phenotypes can do this like the previous poster suggests. Cuttings from plants like this tend to take faster. I've even heard of some people actually rooting their plugs on the plant BEFORE cutting off the clone.

Hey, You have covered your stem in soil, this can sometimes give problems, so I advise against it. By having the stem wet and covered, it will either rot and be eaten by bugs or it will try to make roots to make use of the soil on the stem. Luckily for you it went for roots. Don't put soil or mulch up around your stem, it is a dangerous game to play.
