Is It Safe to Direct Humidifier Mist Above Grow Light in Tent Setup?

Blubbiblubb

I want to place my AC Infinity humidifier outside my grow tent and direct the mist through a pipe into the top of the tent, as shown in this diagram. However, my SF1000 EVO light will hang directly below the mist output. Could this cause issues?

Hi there, have a look at the data sheet of your lamp there is something called IPClassification where are two different numbers the last one says how water resistant something is with an sacle from 0min to 9 max water resistant is. I think your lamp will get about x6 wich is enough for your plan.

Its going to work best without a tube and at the bottom inside of the tent so that it can fill the space evenly. i would try to get away without it if you can. i tried running a tube an had the same problems as mentioned, when i do need to run i t i just make sure its not hitting walls or the plants and I'm usually good. can be hard if space it limited obviously.

Is there a specific reason for introducing the mist above the lamp at the very top of the tent? This approach could lead to a few problems. A lot of water would simply collect in the duct, leading to droplets that might drip onto the lamp and setup from above. Additionally, if you have an exhaust fan positioned at the top, it would likely draw out the moist air immediately, which would reduce both efficiency and consistency. Instead, try directing the mist in from the bottom of the tent. This way, under the tent’s negative pressure, moisture distributes more evenly. Plus, you won’t need such a long duct. I experimented with this quite a bit initially, and my current setup has the humidifier introducing moisture from below, which then gets dispersed a bit further by a fan. It may not be the perfect method, but it’s currently the best solution for my home grow setup.

Could this cause issues? YES If it was not a cool myst humidifier and a normal wicking one less so but this is a bad idea. Aso if any water drips out of the top port onto the light its asking for issues. If your using water with minerals in it its asking for buildup all over. Most tents do not need a humidifier the plants will create a lot of its own humidity once they get bigger. I have used a wet hanging towel on one of the support roles before to boost RH till the plants got a bit bigger. Its also always better to treat the air in the room where the tent pulls it in from. Eg my tent is in my living room, so I treat the air in my living room with temps and RH things so when it goes into the tent it is already fine.

Any length of tubing upwards that high will just Condensate back down and choke up the nozzle, especially if there is a bend.

My advice is to use flex ducting and duct it to the bottom but do not lay the pipe directly on the bottom of the tent, rather bring it back up about a foot using a rope or something to rest it on.

What for ?? You need to humidify plants, but not top air , which will be extracted through carbon filter...

It's gonna get messy IMO. You'll get condensation in the line piping the mist, creating backflow back toward your humidifier. Possibly condensation on the light too. Also it's probably gonna create WAAAAAY more humidity in your tent than you really need. Anything above 60-65% is overkill really. Just run the humidifier in your lung room(aka where you draw your intake air from) if you think you gotta get your humidity up. Personally I wouldn't stress it unless your humidity is consistently low, like under 40%.
