Get a jewelers loop, 10 bucks or so 15-30x minimum, its the only way to know for sure where you stand, everything else is guessing. Look at the tricone a LOT so you can begin to learn their structure and colors. When to take the plant is subjective, the effects will change based on when you harvest. All a milky white color with mushroom heads will do though it is VERY easy to miss the clear tricones. I wait until I begin to see some amber (very little unless I am growing some sleepy time stuff anyway) then its done IMO. Get loop and study them, it will pay off.

3 Ways from the more reliable to the less reliable method : 1/ You check your trichomes with a magnifier ( x40 min) and you harvest when your plants have the good ratio between amber / cloudy and clear trichomes. Keep in mind that amber trichs = stone effect ( I like it ) so a 100% amber weed will make you sleep ( I like that effect ) ; the Cloudy trichomes will give you a well balanced effect between stone and high and acoording to me the most cloudy your trichomes are and the most your effects will looks like to the breeder description ;; and the clear trichomes = energetic high ( I am calling it : NO EFFECT ; but it is a personal evaluation ) So the best moment to cut will depend on the effect you are searching and the effect you are searching must be based on the trichomes ratio BUT don't forget that THC will keep degrading during the drying process which means that if you cut at 50% amber you can have a final product with 60/70% amber sometimes so it's not a parameter to negligate. 2/ You are harvesting according to the breeder recommendation BUT you can fairly add 1 to 3 weeks ( 1 for indicas , 2 for hybrids , 3 for sativas ) to what they are claiming because they are using the values that are representing a grow in the BEST CONDITIONS possibles SO with every parameters at least 90% good ( which means not ours ) . 3/ You'r experimenting the hippies method so you harvest when the plant is tellowing AND when you can see more amber pistols than white pistols : at least 80% amber pistols BUT that methos is not the best

Yours are definitely not ready quite yet! If you don’t have a way to see the trichomes then a good rule of thumb is look at the pistols once 40-60% of the pistols start to turn dark this is a good indicator that your plant is nearing ready for harvest! This is not full proof and only a guide! You really should get a jewelers loop or magnifier to see the trichomes as this is the best way to know optimal harvest time! 🍀👍
