Defoliation, for or against?? Was day 22 last night and defoliated. Went heavy on Caramel, noticed branches don't like supporting themselves after. Did I do too much?? Also, is it okay to strip sny fan leaf?? Was worried taking ones from bud sites as opposed to stalk/branch sites

Leaves are the motor of the plant. with photosynthesis from the leaves she gets energy(food) alway keep it into your mind and find the balance between . ive been waiting for the flowers and then watched which leaves block the light to the flower. and those i picked away. happy growing

Hi @Canned_ibis! Defoliation is awesome when done correctly, but it could be a nightmare if done too much or at the wrong time. Before removing a leaf, I always ask myself: is this leaf really blocking the light? For how many nodes / bud sites? How close are the next leaves? How healthy is this leaf? You should make your own experiments and see how it goes. Keep us up-to-date, happy growing! 👊

You are running photos the benefit is it doesnt matter how much u cut off her at anytime because u can veg her a extra two weeks are 3 are 4 it dont matter now is the time to train her like u want u have the extra veg time its not a auto right now she looks healthy enough to cut wat ever u want off her i would topp her now than retopp in a week your yields will go up at least by 60 grams off each one done right you have the time keep her healthy and she will not skip a beat 100% facts👍👍

The small rule I was shown was to do 15-20% defoliation before flowering and then do any additional small cleanup after flowering has began. The plant needs the leaves and taking less is always better, you can't go backwards after removing too much. Your plants looked amazingly healthy though, I love this stage with their intense young green color. Best of luck.

Hi! There's no "right" answer when it comes to defoliation. Some strains are extra leafy & will benefit from the additional airflow & reduced humidity while others are sparse enough they don't need it. I like to wait until Day 30 before removing fan leaves & Day 40 before taking off bud sites, but that's just my own personal preference. As long as you don't remove more than 20% of her leaves in one day it shouldn't present a problem. Cannabis is pretty resilient. 😊

Defoliating is something you will have to try and decide, nothing we say will convince you if it is beneficial or not. I'm still undecided. Anyway the idea is to take fan leaves that are shading lower leaves that otherwise would not receive light.
