Animal Mints — Week 11 (Week 6 Flower) “Legends of the Frozen North” 12/12 from seed — no traditional veg phase. A direct transition from seedling into flowering rhythm. This run was never about controlling the plant. It was about creating the conditions… and letting the plant decide the rest. ⸻ 🌱 How did we get here — 12/12 from seed From day one, these plants were placed under a 12/12 cycle. No extended vegetative phase, no shaping beforehand. What you see now is the result of: * Early root establishment * Immediate flowering signal * Structural decisions made by the plant itself This creates a different type of growth: Less stretch chaos, more compact intention. Not bigger plants — but often denser, faster-finishing expressions. ⸻ 🌿 The Room — Controlled, but not forced At first glance, some parameters might look “unusual” for this stage. But everything is dialed based on leaf feedback (EPD) — not charts, not assumptions. * Temps: 26°C day / 18°C night * RH: ~60% * Solution & substrate: ~21°C * PPFD: plant-grown into the light (~600–700 range) We don’t chase numbers. We read the plant — and adjust only when she asks. ⸻ ❄️ Trichomes — The “Frozen North” is real This is where she speaks loudest. Trichome production is not just present — it’s accelerating daily. * Sugar leaves fully coated * Bud surfaces stacking resin layer by layer * That early frost has turned into visible density This isn’t just aesthetics. This is the plant investing heavily in protection and reproduction. And she’s not done yet. ⸻ 🌸 Pistils & Flower Development White hairs still active, still pushing. That tells us one thing clearly: ➡️ She’s still building, not finishing Calyx swelling is underway, but not peaked. Structure is set — now it’s about mass + resin + final expression. ⸻ ⚖️ Weight, Structure & “The Lean” Branches are starting to give in to gravity. Not collapse — commitment. This is the moment where: * Density becomes visible * Structure gets tested * Support decisions begin No stress signals — just natural load from proper development. ⸻ 💧 Nutrition — Simple, consistent, intentional Current feeding: * Terra Bloom * Pure Zym * Sugar Royal * Power Buds * Green Sensation * CalMag Pro pH ~6.5 | EC ~2.0 Nothing excessive, nothing reactive. The idea is simple: ➡️ Feed enough to sustain expression, not to force it. Stable input = stable output. ⸻ 💡 Under Canopy Lighting — Why it matters This is where things get interesting. Under-canopy lighting is helping: * Lower bud sites stay active * Improved light penetration in dense zones * More uniform development across the plant Instead of larf, we’re seeing usable structure deeper into the canopy. It’s not about pushing more — it’s about unlocking what’s already there. ⸻ 🧠 Observations This phenotype… has personality. * Slightly dramatic structure * Heavy resin production * Compact but expressive Not the tallest. Not the loudest in height. But easily one of the most present plants in the room. ⸻ 🔮 What to expect next week * Continued trichome stacking * Calyx swelling becoming more pronounced * First signs of pistil transition (some darkening) * Increased weight → more need for support We’re entering that phase where daily changes become visible. ⸻ 🙏 Final Words To everyone following this journey: * The OGs who’ve been here from the start * The new eyes discovering the process * The skeptics, the questioners — always welcome * The silent supporters * The platform for hosting this space * The sponsors and partners * The genetics behind this expression And of course… the plants themselves. This room is alive. And we’re just here to witness it. With true love comes happiness. Always believe in yourself, and always do things expecting nothing and with an open heart. Be a giver, and the universe will give back in ways you could never imagine. 💚 Growers love to all 💚 📸 P.S. – The Eye Behind the Lens All photos in this diary (for now — except for the ones showing the camera, which I took with an iPhone) are taken with a Sony A6700 paired with a Sony full-frame macro lens and a few more. Photography is part of the story — it’s how we share the fine textures, the glow, and the quiet details that words can’t always capture. I’ve also started experimenting with photo stacking — a technique where multiple images, each taken at a slightly different focus point, are layered together to create one perfectly sharp image from front to back. It’s not digital enhancement or AI; it’s pure photography — a way to reveal the plant’s beauty in microscopic depth, from trichome to petal. You’ll even see a few shots of "ghost me" capturing the shots — camera, lens, setup — because every grow deserves not just to be cultivated, but documented like art. Unlike the other time… this time I will be around to monitor the growth and be able the LST some brunches to better expose the new growth to the light(the sun, maybe in my 6th cycle I will install fans and lights), however let me worry about getting this current cycle to harvest. I am glad to see after a heavy session of defoliation she did not take time from recover from shock, now she’s going to just focus on flowering. She’s my biggest plant during this cycle, I wonder if she’s going to bless me with juices strawberries size buds. So much excitement lays ahead, must not mess up a good thing.

The girls were harvested at 94 days. I didn't weigh it, but I believe they yielded around 60 to 70g for both. I am very satisfied and happy to have achieved a very good result, being my first time growing. A cycle closes and a new will come soon with new soil assembly, new genetics and more experience. Thanks to Shiva for tending and blessing the crop, and to all friends here who have sent messages of support and encouragement. I gained another family. Happy 2023 to all, may it be a year of much evolution and beautiful flowers. Om Shanti

Today is day 22, beginning of week 2 of veg. Looking good after topping yesterday. New growth already. Finding it hard to figure out LST, but making progress as soon as I see a leave that is shading another. Practice is helping toward perfection. I fed her today according to General Hydroponics Flora Series low/weak feed schedule. Did not use calmag because I realized there is already a lot of cal and mag in my tap water. I will be buying a 5 stage water filter reservoir so I will resume using it then. Currently only able to use tap water that is filtered through a Brita pitcher. Turned exhaust fan back on after initial 24 hours of balminess to promote growth and rh is back to normal parameters. August 18 update - It is summer in the northern hemisphere and guess who just got over covid? This plant mom. Ugh. Updates are dry this week because I was as sick as a dog. A couple of days ago I noticed purple stems on the fan leaves and the fact that the new growth was such a bright contrast compared to the older fan leaves. After a confirmatory TDS reading on the Apera meter regarding my suspicion of nutrient lockout, I flushed Kaboom 4 times to get her readings back to normal parameters. Today, day 28, (happy first month Kaboom) she is looking a lot better, photos and details in the next week :)

Was a great week for this girl, my other 3 x Ayahuasca Purples in the same RDWC system were showing slight nutrient burn and PPM was a bit high at the end of last week. I dropped the PPM down to 450ppm for the other plants but this girls seams to take whatever I give her. She’s starting to put on the bud now and everything’s been smooth sailing so far for this Alien Technology girl. I added a 2 x 1000w(180w actual) Morison LED’s to this tent as well, 1 directly above this girl angled into the tent. Figured I had them sitting doing nothing so I might as well get some extra light wavelengths my HPS doesn’t really push out. Temps on the canopy top are around 24c for her, and light meter shows about 55 DLI from the HPS when directly above her. I can’t measure what the HPS and LED combined are, but with the angled LED I am only seeing between 20-35 DLI from only the LED when the HPS is on the other side of the tent. So kind of an experiment to see if the added Lum’s and light spectrums help. Well that’s it for this week, end of week 4 and all is good. Cheers 💨
