👑 Godfather OG – Pheno A Week 7 | Reaching for the Sky Welcome back to another chapter of the 8×8 Adventure! One of the things I enjoy most about this project is seeing just how differently genetics express themselves when every plant shares exactly the same environment. Every phenotype receives the same light. The same nutrients. The same temperatures and humidity. The same care. And yet... Every single one chooses her own path. Godfather OG Pheno A has clearly decided that her path is upward. At approximately 166 cm tall, she has become one of the tallest ladies in the room, stretching confidently above much of the canopy while maintaining an elegant structure that seems almost effortless. She's becoming difficult to ignore. 🌱 One Garden, Twelve Different Stories For anyone joining this diary for the first time, welcome! This entire project is an experiment in growing twelve different cultivars using the 12/12 From Seed technique. Instead of giving the plants a traditional vegetative period, every seed was placed under a 12-hour light and 12-hour dark cycle from the very beginning. The result is something I absolutely love watching. Every phenotype writes its own story. Some remain compact. Some focus on branching. Others build flowers early. And then there are plants like Godfather OG Pheno A... ...whose first instinct seems to be reaching for the lights before settling down to build flowers. It's a perfect reminder that genetics will always have the final word. 👑 Chasing the Ceiling This week she continued doing exactly what she's been doing since flowering began... Stretching. And she's doing it beautifully. Despite her impressive height, the internodal spacing remains excellent, giving every future flower plenty of room to develop while allowing light to penetrate deep into the canopy. Rather than becoming lanky or unbalanced, she carries herself with remarkable elegance. Every branch appears purposeful. Every node seems perfectly placed. Watching her grow feels less like managing a plant and more like watching architecture slowly build itself. 🍃 A Picture of Health If I had to describe this phenotype in one word this week... Healthy. The foliage carries a rich, vibrant green colour from top to bottom. The leaves are perfectly formed, reaching confidently toward the light without any signs of stress. The stems remain thick and sturdy, easily supporting the rapid vertical growth. Sometimes the healthiest plants aren't the ones screaming for attention. They're simply the ones that quietly look perfect day after day. Godfather OG Pheno A is quickly becoming one of those plants. 🌸 Flowers Beginning to Take Shape The stretch may still be continuing, but flowering is becoming more obvious with every passing day. Fresh white pistils continue appearing across every branch, and the individual flower sites are beginning to develop into recognizable bud formations. They're still early. Still delicate. Still building their foundations. But the framework is now clearly visible. The coming weeks should see these small clusters begin merging together into longer, fuller colas as the plant gradually shifts more of her energy away from vertical growth and toward flower production. 🌿 Letting Genetics Lead One of the things I've learned over the years is that not every vigorous plant needs constant intervention. Sometimes the smartest decision is simply getting out of the way. Only minimal adjustments continue this week. A little leaf tucking. The occasional branch repositioning. Nothing more. Her natural structure is already doing an outstanding job of distributing light throughout the canopy, and I don't see any reason to fight what her genetics are naturally trying to accomplish. Sometimes nature really does know best. 🍽️ Feeding the Entire Room As with the rest of the 8×8 Adventure, nutrition is shared across the entire reservoir, each phenotype receives the exact same nutrient solution hand feeding or autopot. This week's feeding included: • Terra Bloom – 2 ml/L • Green Sensation – 1 ml/L • Sugar Royal – 1 ml/L • Power Buds – 1 ml/L • pH adjustments using Lemon Kick and pH Plus when required The increase to 2 ml/L of Terra Bloom wasn't made specifically for this plant but for the entire room, as all twelve ladies continue moving deeper into flowering together. Even though every phenotype responds differently, they all share the same table. 🌡️ Environmental Conditions Maintaining consistency remains one of the biggest priorities throughout this grow. This week's averages included: • Day temperature: 29°C • Night temperature: 25°C • Relative humidity: 60% • pH: 5.8 • EC: 1.95 mS/cm • Nutrient solution: 22°C • Root zone: 21°C • CO₂ concentration: 639 ppm Stable conditions allow the genetics to express themselves naturally, and this room continues proving just how important consistency really is. 📸 This Week's Gallery This week's photographs tell an exciting story. The wide shots immediately reveal just how much taller she's becoming compared to many of the surrounding plants. The close-ups showcase beautiful early flower development, vibrant green foliage, and exceptionally clean internodal spacing. One of my favourite images captures her standing proudly above the canopy. It's almost as if she's announcing to the room that she isn't finished stretching just yet. She's becoming one of the true standouts of this project. 🔮 Looking Ahead The biggest question for next week is simple... Will she finally slow down? Or does she still have another growth spurt waiting? Either way, I expect the stretch to gradually begin easing while flower production starts taking priority. Those clusters of fresh white pistils should continue stacking into larger bud sites, and if everything continues progressing as smoothly as it has so far, the first noticeable resin production shouldn't be too far away. She's already among the tallest plants in the room. Now it's all over and I can sit back look at her, cry a tear of joy, and enjoy that my hard work has paid off. Although it is not over just yet. I still need to dry out the bud and get them in jars to cure.I will say one thing about my opinion on tastes and smell. Its just that, an opinion. I chose creamy just because I felt it describes the taste, although I cant say it tastes like a cream-sickle. It definitely has some citrus to the taste though, that I am sure of. The high I feel really brings me up. Took me too long to wake up this morning but this helped out. I'm feeling ready for the day, and all around quite good inside the chest and head.All in all it tastes and feels great. It will be a great WAKE and bake sativa, or a great party toke. I am going to give some away to some close friends and get their opinions on it as well. I do recommend this plant to other people. Try it out for yourselves. It was an easy plant to grow and train. My buds did not come out looking like a cannabis cup winner but they probably could in the right growers hands.

next time i have to veg more then 4 weeks to increase yield. it finishes quickly and big yield for the short veg time. im also very happy with the optic 4 wich made the buds dense from top to bottom. i might upgrade to cocos or hydro next grow, or maybe both ;)

Scrog

Week 4: look at het flapping her wings. A tremendous growth spurt in the last two weeks. I managed to identify and treat some humidity and over-watering issues and think I got her dialed in right now. But, this is what I love about this grow journey, improvement comes being consistent in learning and adapting. Once again great genetics from Humboldt Seeds and the stability of Just Cannabis soil certainly helps lessen the impact of my noob mistakes and, we back in flight mode. Topped up with couple liters of PH water only. No nutrients at this point just PH water and living soil. A few changes this week; moved her to a more comfortable space. Dropped the light gradually throughout the week and settled at 40cm. Temp slightly lower lately but I managed to keep humidity idling between 65/75. Added an extra fan to the grow air to improve ventilation. Will be focusing more on extraction and dehumidifiers as from next week.

Poor Skunk Apple really is the runt of the litter. I think we can blame my rookie mistake of giving it a gallon of water that was way too strong. It's been struggling to recover ever since. Hopefully this little guy will catch up eventually, but I'm not gonna hold my breath. Well, another year has come and gone. Yesterday was New Year's Eve, and I want to wish all of you a happy and healthy 2025. May this year bring you all the things you've been wishing for. Let's make this the best year yet! I can't believe how much my plants have grown during this stretch! It's like they've been on some serious plant steroids. They've all at least doubled in size, some of them even more. I have a hard time with overwatering, especially now that it's harder to let them dry out. I just don't know if I'm damaging the roots with all this growth.

Was a good learning experience. I'm not going to get near the weight I expected from these, and though the bud turned out really tasty, I don't think I'll grow it again. I'm not sure I would recommend to a newbie. It was in some awesome living soil, but some deficiencies crept up in flower, and I wasn't impressed with the roots upon post mortem exam. On second look, even the photo on msnl's site shows some spots that looks like deficiencies. Definitely some grower errors here, but all of my ongoing grows faced the same challenges and these just seemed less adaptable. Anyhow, I've been graced with some clean meds for now, and I'm a happy growin hooman. 👽 I also probably won't do any more autoflowers moving forward. Just not my style. There are some great peeps doing outstanding work with autos though. Best to them and all! :) D82 - 12.12 - cut the second auto cheese yesterday. Let her go as long as I was comfortable. Think her run in with the gnats resulted in the the deficiencies. Awfully covered in trichs, so it should make for tasty smoke after dried, trimmed and cured.. Shall update

Well, I shouldn’t have spoken so quickly. There was actually a start of bud rot on the top bud, as visible in the video. (I had opened it beforehand, it didn't break by itself) I removed the damaged part and a bit more before hanging the plant. I let the two bottom branches grow for a few more days as planned, since there are still white pistils shooting and the buds look healthy. I weighed the plant with the stem at 250g. I think there’s about 100/120g of stem (I weighed a small portion and did the proportionality). So, I am expecting around 150-175g of wet buds for this harvest, counting the two remaining branches.

Plant is finishing up

The Gorilla Glue has some rust spots on the top leaves, added some cal/mag to counteract that. Last week I thinned her out a good bit, no more fans covering bud sites more or less... Probably should have done that before she got into flower. The Gelato has recovered from the topping/fimmings and is growing its new tops, I also removed the very top leaves to keep it from growing much taller before I yoink the Gorilla Glue. Still an experiment plant, still growing better than I thought it was going to, still just sitting in the back vegetating. Day 63: This Gorilla Glue is doing markedly better than I thought it was going to. It has about 8 satellite nugs and one monster nug in the middle. The monster nug stem is zig zagged because I trained it multiple times so it's getting light on multiple levels directly to the top. I feel like there should only be 2 more weeks or so looking at the trichome production, there are some cloudy heads on the sugar leaves but still all clear on the nugs. Day 69: Don't think I'm going to feed the Gorilla Glue again, whatever happens, happens. Final feeding was 1tsp Tiger Bloom 0.5tsp cal/mag. I also removed the Gelato from the diary. It's still in there but I'll start a new diary if I decide to flower this plant.

This week I have fed my girls for the last time (feed-water-water-feed) and I think they are ready to go into a flush, I know one of them really needs it but I shall not name and shame 😂 but overall been a pretty boring ass week, although last week I said I didnt care about the deficiencies something is getting worse and I want to know why to stop it getting g worse a d prevent this happening again I shall ask the question down below, thanks for dropping In and giving this a read, Happy Growing!👊👍

================================================================================= CRIB NOTES - I'M USING A LIGHT CYCLE OF 6 ON 2 OFF THIS SHOULD KEEP THE LADIES FROM STRETCHING AND GROW VERY COMPACT. Many growers advocate the use of an 18/6 light schedule (18 hours on, 6 hours off) while plants are in Veg. However, this may not be the most beneficial light schedule. Switching to a series of 6/2 (6 hours on, 2 hours off) light patterns may increase plant growth while also potentially creating a more stable controlled environment. While this new schedule may sound risky, it actually comes with a number of benefits. Cannabis is a “short-day plant,” meaning that it will only flower when exposed to long periods of darkness and short periods of light. For cannabis to flower, there must be at least 12 hours of continuous darkness. This allows for the use of a series of shorter light schedules while the plant is in Veg – as long as the plant receives less than 12 hours of continuous darkness, it will stay in Veg. BENEFITS OF A 6/2 LIGHT SCHEDULE There is a lot of research that suggests that cannabis plants can only process a certain amount of light per day. After that level has been reached, the plant can no longer absorb more light, and any additional light is essentially wasted. By breaking the light cycle into multiple 6 hour periods, the plant is able to rest and process the light it has received. When the lights come back on 2 hours later, the plant will be ready to process additional light, allowing you to get the most plant growth out of every minute your lights are on. At a biological level, cannabis’s inability to grow more once it has received a certain amount of light can be attributed to the way the plant processes carbon dioxide (CO2). A majority of the mass accumulated in cannabis is associated with the amount of CO2 found inside plant cells. While under light, cannabis tries to prevent CO2 from leaving its cells by cutting off transpiration. However, this prevents new CO2 from entering into the cell, blocking new growth. When the lights are turned off, and no photosynthesis is occurring, the plant is able to absorb new CO2 into its cells. Additionally, when plants are exposed to 18 straight hours of intense light, they become stressed. Signs of stress – droopy or curled leaves – will usually appear towards the end of the light cycle. While some stress can be beneficial to plant growth, too much stress can cause harm to your plants and prevent them from reaching maximum growth potential. Giving plants 6 hours of intense light at a time not only puts less stress on the plants, it also spread out the load on your cooling system over a longer period of time. The cooling system works the hardest when lights are on. By turning off the lights for 2 hours at a time throughout the day, your cooling system will get a break between light cycles, allowing the room to be cooled to desired temperatures before the lights come back on. With a properly sized cooling system, this benefit will be minimized as the system will be designed to handle the heat load throughout the entire light cycle. While there are many approaches to Veg light cycles for cannabis, a 6/2 schedule allows for maximum plant growth. A 6/2 schedule allows plants to process more intense light, prevents plants from becoming stressed and puts less stress on your cooling system. It’s a win all around. Give your plants a break every 2 hours and you’ll be amazed at the results. ================================================================================= Day 1 October 1st - 2018 - The 3 Seeds are in germination at the present. The seeds were soaked in reverse osmosis water for 16 Hr. then transferred to a paper towel. DAY 2 October 2nd - 2018 - 2 out of the 3 seeds have germinated. the first 2 will be put into hydrofarm soilless seed starters using Revers Osmosis water and placed under 3 grolux flor 45 watt. Day 2 October 2nd - 2018 1:00 Pm. All 3 seeds planted into hydrofarm soilless seed starters using Revers Osmosis water and placed under 3 grolux flor 45 watt Day 3 October 3rd - 2018 - 9:00 Am. 2 ladies have popped out there little heads. Day 4 October 4th - 2018- 9:30 Am Seedlings are doing fine. All 3 seeds have germinated. Day 5 October 5th - 2018 ROW being installed. 2:30 Pm ROW installed. Day 5 October 5th - 2018 Seedlings are getting first set of single serrated leaves. Day 5 October 5th - 2018 The tent is setup and running R.O.W. Day 5 October 5th - 2018 Washed all Hydroton Clay Pellets in ROW. NO DETERGENTS. Rinse and Rinse again. Using R.O.W. so the medium has a practically no Ph. Day 6 October 6th - 2018 - Transferred the best 2 seedlings to tent under Veg. 1000 Watt L.E.D. Each bucket contains 19 liters of R.O.W. no nutrients added. This will continue for the next 2-3 weeks depending on growth. Day 6 October 6th - 2018 Seedlings put under Light Cycle of 6 On 2 Off Ect. Day 7 October 7th - 2018 - Seedlings looking good. Seems everything is fine on 6 on 2 off light cycle. Day 7 October 7th - 2018 - The 3rd seed germinated is looking very healthy. Transplanted it from the hydro seed starter to a 1 gallon planter with soil. Placed this in between the 2 main plants in the D.W.C. & used R.O.W.
