The clone on the right refused to root, pulled it and looks like there might have been some root rot and recovery so roots didn’t search out the water line and got stuck in hydroton. It now lives in some dirt in a small pot with bondage on my balcony and seems to be recovering. Will not be following that one anymore. FIMmed the top a couple days ago to push the bottom of the plant, might need to clear some fan leaves. Aside from that, the magnesium deficiency sorted out and the remaining plant is taking in nutes and throwing arms like crazy. But as the nutrient uptake began I have what looks like some nitrogen toxicity, not terrible as the leaves aren’t shiny and no claws but I diluted the solution a bit as ppm and ec are still very high compared to everyone else. I have not fully sorted out what my solution ratios are yet as there have been adjustments to bring it into range and ppm and ec are very high so next res change I will not mix nutrients for the whole solution but perhaps half and dilute the rest with hydroguard at full strength (using RO water). So far I have used no buffers and the torus hydro perfect ph stick appears to be doing its job because no matter what I put in there the ph is 5.9-6.1. Having a fungus gnat issue stemming from another houseplant (studio living) so I need some BT spray for the hydroton and some dunks for the res. Also the ac for my building is out and had a couple 100 degree days, managed to keep the tent under 86 but really need that to come online before that is the norm again. A reptile fogger replaced the tiny bedside one I crammed in there in urgency, has a 4L capacity so I can refill daily as opposed to three times. Also the hose outlet allows the unit to be outside the tent. Also replaced the two 15lpm pumps with EcoPlus 795gph (almost 100lph more). Have to say the design on it is a little sloppy from an engineering standpoint, the power cable comes directly out the bottom between the rubber feet and you’d essentially break it to get it to the point the feet actually make contact so it walks around. I made a base to run the cable under and mount the pump firmly and am making a cover with mdf and dynamat to kill the sound which isn’t terrible but I sleep 15 feet from it.

Grow Questions

Ph dropped hard 24 hr after res change @ 60%. Had changed 1 week prior due to high ec + slowly dropping ph and added another air stone. Turned off the air stone for an hour, no change so likely not acid rain situation. Ph up’d, plant never showed signs of being unhappy. Thoughts?

I have had this a few times. I'm not sure what causes it but my theory is all to do with the nutrients. I'm thinking that the nitrogen increases Ph as during flower you use less N. I just let it drift down then PH up when it happens.

@Greenfingers666, showing page not found for that one but I peeked at your other grows. Do you do all autos? I tried some outdoor last year but conditions were harsh. I appreciate the ingenuity of trellis on your pink man! I need to get a second net up so things don’t topple in a couple weeks...

@Greenfingers666 thanks, learned quite a bit through this run and settled on a cabinet design for flowering and I’ll turn this into veg/clone tent.

@AutoCrazy, do it. They are a better option than what I am using (HDX 17gal). It bows, the lid is very light permeable and has grooves for moisture to hide. A cooler is insulated (I have a way overpowered chiller but still a benefit if it runs less!), is intended to hold water and has a tight sealing lid. I’ve suffered excessive evaporation in the tote due to a lack of seal and large surface area of water to evaporate. I’ve been working on what is essentially an rdwc trough that minimizes surface area of the water, uses no pvc tubing (which is safe, to a degree, but I want to avoid) and doesn’t consist of multiple containers with potentially leaking bulkheads which will be made made of fiberglassed plywood with pond armor as it is aquarium safe. I like the 2’ deep by whatever setups to flush against a wall for less footprint so it’s hard to get the space between plants needed without having massive surface area to evaporate. Good luck and get creative, you may discover something that works great.

@Gzuscamp, I am going to be building my own setup using a cooler and all sorts of other gizzmos that I found on the web. It will be original but the “science” behind it is sound lol.

@Gzuscamp, yeah, like anything it takes time to dial it in. I am sure in the long run it will prove easier then soil. That’s my hope.
