Not much except steady growth and stable ph/ec/ppm until end of the week... the pump feeling the chiller started making noise so I pulled it out of the res and disassembled. The vertical tube was slimy with brown residue and had some on the walls as well. Fearing rot and expecting sludge on air stones I dumped the res and was surprised how good everything looked. Roots were feeling lively and firm and developing into a decently sized root ball. Which tangled up my air lines. Those were disconnected and moved to the perimeter of the res rather than directly underneath the plant as the goal is to not have stagnant water and keep the res O2 rich. The perimeter of the tank seems to not have as much circulation as I would like and hope moving stones will help. The slime! So im positive it isn’t brown slime algae as it was just a light residue on a few surfaces and roots are in good shape. I am going to attribute this to vigorous aeration plus the dunk I put in a media filter bag. Plus the rotting corpses of the fungus gnats which have since disappeared with dunk and BT spray on hydroton. I used a harbor freight 1.25g sprayer to wash walls and roots and drained again before filling with new solution (I’ll include that in next week so issues will be tied to that). This is the first res change IN A MONTH and could have gone much longer if not for needing the dunk and BT. Mind you this is also with zero ph buffering, just top off with water so I’m going to say torus hydro is working well!

Ph dropped hard 24 hr after res change @ 60%. Had changed 1 week prior due to high ec + slowly dropping ph and added another air stone. Turned off the air stone for an hour, no change so likely not acid rain situation. Ph up’d, plant never showed signs of being unhappy. Thoughts?

I have had this a few times. I'm not sure what causes it but my theory is all to do with the nutrients. I'm thinking that the nitrogen increases Ph as during flower you use less N. I just let it drift down then PH up when it happens.

@Greenfingers666, showing page not found for that one but I peeked at your other grows. Do you do all autos? I tried some outdoor last year but conditions were harsh. I appreciate the ingenuity of trellis on your pink man! I need to get a second net up so things don’t topple in a couple weeks...

@Greenfingers666 thanks, learned quite a bit through this run and settled on a cabinet design for flowering and I’ll turn this into veg/clone tent.

@AutoCrazy, do it. They are a better option than what I am using (HDX 17gal). It bows, the lid is very light permeable and has grooves for moisture to hide. A cooler is insulated (I have a way overpowered chiller but still a benefit if it runs less!), is intended to hold water and has a tight sealing lid. I’ve suffered excessive evaporation in the tote due to a lack of seal and large surface area of water to evaporate. I’ve been working on what is essentially an rdwc trough that minimizes surface area of the water, uses no pvc tubing (which is safe, to a degree, but I want to avoid) and doesn’t consist of multiple containers with potentially leaking bulkheads which will be made made of fiberglassed plywood with pond armor as it is aquarium safe. I like the 2’ deep by whatever setups to flush against a wall for less footprint so it’s hard to get the space between plants needed without having massive surface area to evaporate. Good luck and get creative, you may discover something that works great.

@Gzuscamp, I am going to be building my own setup using a cooler and all sorts of other gizzmos that I found on the web. It will be original but the “science” behind it is sound lol.

@Gzuscamp, yeah, like anything it takes time to dial it in. I am sure in the long run it will prove easier then soil. That’s my hope.
