Week 1 Veg
Apologies for posting a little bit late, but nonetheless here's one of the 2 BRAND NEW strains by Royal Queen Seeds; Green Gelato π§ a very exciting release from RQS that I can't wait to try! If you've had any of the Gelato cuts then you'll know exactly how dank this girl can be. I think RQS worked with #33 (Lary Bird), but even with fem seeds there can be many more than one phenotype.
I started this girl in a wet paper towel as usual, and then placed her inside an open freezer bag and popped her in a dark drawer (my seed vault). I accidentally left her in there a little longer than I normally would, causing her to completely sprout from out of her seed case. This isn't an issue and shouldn't be anything to worry about. Some people even prefer to leave them until they're this far. I prefer not to, as once the tap root produces a lot of fuzzy hairs it can cause it to stick to the paper towel, making it difficult to pull away without damage. No damage was caused to this girl though, as the paper towel was pretty wet rather than damp. When transplanting a seedling like this into the coco/medium, you still want to completely cover her and let her reach further out of the coco herself.
After she was transplanted the coco was given a spraying with 5.8pH water (I currently use tap water, but RO is best). I don't soak the whole cup, only enough to dampen at least half the cup. This is so she dries quicker and shoots her little roots further. I also spray inside her germination bag and place it over her cup until she's had her first day above the coco. This is to act as a humidity dome to stop her from drying while she's so young. She was then given only water with EM1 until day 6, where she was started on a light nutrient feed (listed above).
Thanks for following and happy growing! πΊ
I was looking at another GG diary and she stretched from 8.6 to 23.9. Iβm with you I was going to let her go to 18β veg expecting 2x for a 36β Plant. Iβll eagerly be awaiting your update!
I guess living across the big pond is an advantage because it takes me longer to get the drops I can reference @growdiaries !!!!!
@Tazard, 100% mate. I expected her to get a little bigger than average, which she has but the side branching is too much. Next time I'll be giving her a higher lollipop. That's very true mate lol definitely gives you a lil advantage π cheers man πβοΈπΊ
Odd to not get a temperature drop. Unless you were already efficient at removing excess heat. Was it running close to ambient temperature during the day?
@Tazard, beautiful mate ππ I've not got an a.c. myself, so it'll be a challenge once I've got a bigger light, but I still expected a drop in temps in their day period at least. Regardless of the light. Cheers mate πβοΈπΊ
@TheFoxFarmer, great consideration. Hadnβt even thought about that. I donβt know about 315βs but 1000hps is about 6700 btuβs. I use a 14k btu portable ac. And have 5 135w old blurple LEDβs and 2 3000K LEDβs for added spectrum and to fill in for the hps in the 4x6β grow area. About 1900w. It runs 82-92 (92 sealed) 82F vented. I use 1500ppm CO2. I should also mention the cold air from the ac enters into an insulated tunnel on the floor and cools 3 5 gal hydroponic tanks before cooling the tent.
@Tazard, my thoughts are when they were on in the Day and off at night, the colder night temps kept it lower from the start of the day/lights on, and it took much longer to warm up throughout the day. Whereas now, the heat of the day is warming up their night cycle, so before the light comes on they're already hotter to start with. So once the light comes on it gradually heats up and becomes hotter than it would previously. My initial thought was that it would be easier to keep cooler when running lights at night, but I may have to actually upgrade a couple things just to get it down a bit! I'm still well within tolerance, but once I double the light power that can change. Cheers for dropping in by the way mate βοΈππΊ
@biggreens420, thanks man. Yeah I always make sure I put the same effort into each week and get them completed. Can't be having no half hearted, unfinished diaries lol ππ¦
@TheFoxFarmer,no need to apologise man I understand things are more important than a diary lol I go through them patches when I'm super busy at least it's there in the end that's what counts ππ
@biggreens420, I know bro I apologise to everyone who's been waiting on my updates. I'll be uploading more often now. And cheers Big G π I appreciate your support bro βοΈπ¦
@Tazard, hahaha I was recommended for an interview with GD by a previous grower that's had one but not heard anything since π I think I need to catch up on my current diaries first! Haha cheers mate πβοΈπ¦
@Magnetous, I wouldn't say she's a huge stretcher as she was a pretty big girl when she was thrown in there. She at least doubled her height but it was her crazy sidebranching that was more the problem. Had I known this before I would have gave her a later lollipop and a bit higher up too βοΈπΊ
Great diary! Congrats on dotm. βοΈ Do you like using that mammoth microbes? I recently picked up some myco product (endo, ecto, trichoderma) from my garden store ladies...think those sort of things are important to use every time? Microbes and what not.
@Experimentgreen, cheers! All microbial products/brands are different, using different species and concentrations too, so simply follow what the bottle/pack says and you should be just fine πππ¦
Nice job there!!! Those nuggets look π beautiful. Very excited to see your results as I have these genetics waiting in my on deck circle for my garden.
