Dec 8 (day 99): Start of week 15. Looking huge but have had an explosion of white pistils all over the buds. Some articles say this is normal, some say it may be normal for the strain and some say its too much heat/light. As always its difficult to know which it is, but reading articles on 'fox tailing' (which I think is too much heat/light at late flowering stage), it says that the white pistils are OK if they are all over the buds, rather than in one area (which they are). I also found some white clusters that look like little flowers on the top of two buds, so I asked a grow question. Looks like bud bleaching from the answer I got from the question. Wanda is a bit taller than Orla and the two buds with bleaching are the highest and closest to the light, so this makes sense. I've raised the light a few inches higher and turned it down to 80%. This has also dropped the temperature in the tent to 24C, so hopefully all good. I think they will still get enough light at this stage, but I've still only been using my 400W light for a few weeks and getting used to the levels. I am going to go by the trichomes rather than the pistils which are looking mostly cloudy. More ambers, but probably 5% overall at a guess? Will give it to the end of the week and check at her next watering. Continuing with the flush, so gave 9L of PH balanced water.
Dec 9 (day 100): All good. I've been reading up on her strain on the Dutch Passion website. Looks like the white pistils are native to the strain as it says the buds are white. There was also a picture on the site of some buds at harvest point and they looked just like mine, covered in white pistils...PHEW!
Dec 10 (day 101): All good, no water required yet and pot is still heavy. Checked trichomes and they are still ok to go a few more days I'd say. More amber trichomes appearing, but still not masses overall so will wait a little longer.
Dec 11 (day 102): All good, still doesn't need water yet.
Dec 12 (day 103): Needs watering today. Took her sister Orla up for watering and checked her trichomes. She's ready for harvest and I don't want to let her go any longer. I would say she is 20%+ amber trichomes now. Harvest and wet trim took 3 bloody hours ๐ต Didn't want to be there for another 3 hours with Wanda, so will harvest her tomorrow. Didn't bother watering her, but have kept the light off as Orla is now in the net drying in the same tent.
Dec 13 (day 104): Harvest day!!! Cut her branches down and put them in the trim bin. She is so different to Wendy, in that she just has lots of big colas so it was really easy to just trim those down. The wet trim took 2 bloody hours ๐ต I am drying her in the same tent as Orla in the lighthouse net. Put her into the net and turned the extractor up a bit. Weighed her and I have 467g. I read that you lose approximately 70% of the weight when drying (thats a bloody shame ๐ฉ), so am hoping to end up with around 150g (5OZ) when she is dry. Thats quite a step up from the 16g I got off Wendy my other white widow ๐ฉ๐ฏ.
Dec 14 (day 105): End of week 15. Both girls harvested and drying in the tent. I will continue to post updates on this page until she has finished curing and then I will add the final 'Harvest' page.
Dec 15 (day 106): Drying nicely and losing moisture. However, still damp in comparison to Orla who is crisping up already. Assume its a strain thing and all those white pistils! Continuing to go down into the cellar and swish them about each day. With the nets, you need to turn the buds regularly so they don't get flat on one side ๐
Dec 21 (day 112): Sheโs dry now and ready for trimming and curing. I am going to put Orla and Wanda into glass jars rather than Grove Bags like their sisters. I want to make a comparison to see if there is any difference. Itโs more of a pain to have to burp the jars, but as I have to check on the new seedlings daily, I am in the cellar anyway. Dry weight was 93 grams, which is a HUGE improvement on Wendy. Will update the harvest page in 4 weeks when she is cured and I have had my first smoke ๐ถโ๐ซ๏ธ๐๐
Anybody know what this is at the top of my bud?! Looks like a flower?! Got so many new white pistils all over which is surprising this late into flower?! Is this why she is called white widow? ๐ค
@KingSalomonsWeed, Ah I see what you mean. Yes, I think I will move it closer, but the issue is that she shares a light with Ophelia and she is a bit taller. I'm worried if I lower it too much, it will burn the top of Ophelia. I had made a note that it should be 18 inches (45cm) above the canopy at this stage. I will lower it later, thank you!
@greenhousegrowgirl, Hi, i mean that you can put down your lamp, if possible. Because the plant than becomes more energy. I mean 30 cm is full ok on an LED light.
No probs with the brown leaves. This should be old leaves. Let them on until the plant soaked them complete brown.
Ahh and more water. You cant get root putrifaction in this air pot. Give em till they drain. Use plastik bags for saucer.
They drink more than you thought.
Overall good work.
@greenhousegrowgirl,
Hi, your Ophelia is good to go for another two weeks. She has to turn the trichomes looking down also to be milky. Btw. First glasy than milky than bigger milky, golden, amber.
You use great BioBizz products. Chill you don't need to flush.
Bio means that the plant can only can use what the soil gives her.
Just give her water. And the upper buds will first ripe, than it will go down. You have the time.... ๐ WONDERFULL PLANTS
@KingSalomonsWeed, ๐๐๐ lucky you! I have run out and won't have any until these babies are ready! Please can you take a look at my 'Ophelia' diary and let me know what you think of my new trichome photos? Do you think I am flushing at the right time with a view to harvest this weekend? The trichomes look part clear, part cloudy to me ๐
