Second set of seeds from my first grow are 'Wanda' White Widow and 'Orla' Orange Bud. 'Wendy' White Widow and 'Ophelia' Orange Bud are my first set of seeds and are 2 weeks ahead as I could only fit two pots in the grow tent. See separate diaries for the other plants.
Starting the seeds off in a grow tent indoors until they hit vegetation phase, when I will move them to the greenhouse. I have a bluetooth thermostat that connects to an app so I can check the temp and humidity remotely. There is also an alert feature where you can set a temperature range and it notifies you if it goes higher or lower than this.
Using the Darmai 40w light in the grow tent on a 20/4 light schedule, set to blue spectrum.
Water is PH 7.5, 220 ppm and temperature 22C when watering. Only watering around the seedling.
Soil was PH 6.5 at time of planting and is now averaging 7.0 PH.
No nutrients added this week as there are enough in the soil to last the first 2 weeks.
1 Sep: Planted in a 20L airpot with Biobizz light mix soil. Watered plant sparingly around the seedling.
2 Sep: Wanda broke through the surface of the soil. Watered plant sparingly around the seedling.
3 Sep: DISASTER - she is completely bent over and looking pretty dire. I've noticed that this second set of plants (Wanda and Orla) are using much more water than the first set (Ophelia and Wendy). I am putting this down to the fact that I prepared all the pots at the same time from a new bag of Biobizz light mix. Whilst I planted Ophelia and Wendy straight away into those pots, I left the other two pots in the greenhouse ready to plant Wanda and Orla when ready. I can only assume the soil lost a lot of moisture over this 10 day period and whilst I was watering in the same capacity as the first set of plants, this wasn't enough. I've been watering pretty much every day since planting, versus every 2-3 days with the first set. I gave her some water straight away and she picked up and was standing straight by the end of the day.
4 Sep: She has picked back up again and looking OK.
7 Sep: End of week 1 and around 5 cm high. Today the temperatures hit 28C and the temperature in the loft (where the grow tent is placed) soared. I have a fan in the grow tent but it was just circulating warm air and I was unable to get the temperature down. Therefore I took her outside to take advantage of the sunshine and a light breeze. She is definitely smaller than her sister 'Wendy' White Widow was at one week old, but I am putting this down to stunted growth due to underwatering. I am just hoping that it won't effect her too much overall.
Anybody know what this is at the top of my bud?! Looks like a flower?! Got so many new white pistils all over which is surprising this late into flower?! Is this why she is called white widow? ๐ค
@KingSalomonsWeed, Ah I see what you mean. Yes, I think I will move it closer, but the issue is that she shares a light with Ophelia and she is a bit taller. I'm worried if I lower it too much, it will burn the top of Ophelia. I had made a note that it should be 18 inches (45cm) above the canopy at this stage. I will lower it later, thank you!
@greenhousegrowgirl, Hi, i mean that you can put down your lamp, if possible. Because the plant than becomes more energy. I mean 30 cm is full ok on an LED light.
No probs with the brown leaves. This should be old leaves. Let them on until the plant soaked them complete brown.
Ahh and more water. You cant get root putrifaction in this air pot. Give em till they drain. Use plastik bags for saucer.
They drink more than you thought.
Overall good work.
@greenhousegrowgirl,
Hi, your Ophelia is good to go for another two weeks. She has to turn the trichomes looking down also to be milky. Btw. First glasy than milky than bigger milky, golden, amber.
You use great BioBizz products. Chill you don't need to flush.
Bio means that the plant can only can use what the soil gives her.
Just give her water. And the upper buds will first ripe, than it will go down. You have the time.... ๐ WONDERFULL PLANTS
@KingSalomonsWeed, ๐๐๐ lucky you! I have run out and won't have any until these babies are ready! Please can you take a look at my 'Ophelia' diary and let me know what you think of my new trichome photos? Do you think I am flushing at the right time with a view to harvest this weekend? The trichomes look part clear, part cloudy to me ๐
