Week 3 had 1/3 plants showing a clear Cal-Mag deficiency. After flushing with 0 TDS, 6.0 pH water, I noticed the TDS/PPM of the run-off was FAR too high. The plant with the obvious deficiency showed over 4k TDS/PPM runoff, while the other 2/3 had close to 2k TDS/PPM run-off or lower. Plants were flushed until reaching 1,000 - 2,000 TDS/PPM runoff or lower. Now a few days into Week 4, plants are just beginning to let off a nice dank smell. The plant that was in the worst condition is seemingly still not perfect, but has made positive progress. The other two plants have been far better all around. There was minor signs of a Cal-Mag deficiency in one of them, however it was quickly tended to and is seemingly doing well. Note: 4-4-4 and 4-8-4 fertilizers were both added to the medium before germination. This is more than likely how I've come to encounter TDS/PPM issues with my run-off, considering none of these plants have ever received a feeding higher than 300 TDS/PPM. As a noob, I wasn't aware that adding these fertilizers to the medium (mostly coco coir) might be a bad idea, as opposed to using bottled nutrients. I believe this is where my TDS/PPM issues are stemming from and am not going to use any bottled nutrients for the rest of this grow.

12/20/21: -Minor defoliation of 3-5 leaves on each plant to increase light exposure to the lower sections of the plant. -Small hairs formed on main cola for plant #1. -Continuing LST in an attempt to increase light exposure. 12/21/21: -All plants fed with the following solution: pH = 6.0 - 6.1 TDS/PPM = 350 .6 tsp/gal CalMag 3 tsp/gal FoxFarm Big Bloom .5 tsp/gal Great White 12/23/21: -All plants had some LST updates and very minor defoliation for airflow and light exposure. The deficiencies from the previous week are now barely noticeable with the new growth and defoliation of the damaged growth from a couple of weeks ago. 12/24/21: -More LST was already required, as well as some more defoliation. -Lost a stem on one of the plants. I believe I caused it to break the previous day without realizing. After attempting to tape it together, I failed and the stem completely broke off. -All plants were topped with Down to Earth fertilizer, 1 tbsp of 4-4-4 and 2 tbsp of 4-8-4, mixed with some worm castings. -All plants were watered with the same solution used on 12/21. 12/25/21: -Pictures updated. -Continued defoliation.

12/28/21: -Plant 1 has begun flowering, while plants 2 and 3 seem to still be a bit behind plant 1. -Plants 2 and 3 are both showing signs of a CalMag deficiency once again, after a few weeks of them looking pretty nice. Going to increase the dosage of CalMag from 3mL/gallon to 5mL/gallon and increase the pH of the water to 6.1-6.2. 1/1/22: -Plant 1 is showing great growth, budding at a dozen locations, if not more. Lacking in height compared to the other two, but also seems to be in perfect health compared to the others. -Plants 2 and 3 were watered to runoff and check pH and TDS/EC of the runoff. pH= 6.2- 6.3 for both TDS= ~2k PPM for both -Readings were fairly good, pH was .2 higher than expected/goal, but still within an okay range for now. Will continue to water with 6.0 water and steady doses of CalMag. -Added far below the recommended dose (.4 tsp/gallon) of Tiger Bloom (2-8-4) to the water to give the plants some direct nutrients for flower production, since they have been completely reliant upon slow release fertilizers until now. Will be using the liquid fertilizer VERY sparingly, if even at all. -Defoliation is pretty much daily for the most part, at least a leaf or two per plant a day on average (if I can't find a means of leaf tucking). Continued LST as necessary as well.

1/4/22: -Plant 1 is still growing along like a genetic beast! Plant 2 is straying FAR behind. Plant 3 is improving once again. -Both plants 2 and 3 seem to be about a week or two behind Plant 1 in regards to flowering. They are just now beginning to show their first hairs. -Despite all 3 seeds being from the same vendor, the three seeds continue to grow quite differently and express completely different genetics. -If I were to draw a quick hypothesis, it would be that fertilization rates of the Worm Castings + 4-4-4 + 4-8-4 fertilizers I originally mixed into the medium were a little too much to handle for Plant 2. Plant 3 adapted as it grew, but plant 2 just doesn't seem to be catching up. It must still be suffering from nutrient lockout despite 2 flushes, with both runoff tests showing positive results. -Going to avoid any defoliation and LST for this week, unless completely necessary. Want to try and get the plants a bit taller and bushier, just to get more general photosynthesis/growth going as the flowering phase picks up. 1/8/22: -All plants seem to be doing well at this point. Only light LST to keep the canopies even. Fed with CalMag, Big Bloom, Great White. -Resumed 20 on - 4 off light schedule. Noticed an IMMEDIATE improvement in all plant sizes within 4 hours of having the lights back on. Seemingly, having the lights off for 4 hours did wonders for their height and budding. 1/9/22: -Despite not wanting to do much LST or defoliation, due to the plants lack of general height, a lot more defoliation and LST have been done. -Did not use any Tiger Bloom during last feeding.

1/11: -Watered plants with an increased dose of Tiger Bloom and CalMag. 6.0 - 6.1 pH 1/13: -Gave the plants 8 hours of lights out since temperatures weren't too low today outdoors. The tent gets pretty cool when the lights are out if it's cold outside. Temps didn't go below 62F. -Watered with 3mL/gal dose of CalMag in 6.1 pH solution. -No LST or defoliation done this week so far. -Plant 1 is becoming quite sticky and is developing plenty of trichomes. -Plant 2 has come a long way and seemingly is no longer struggling to keep up. Hairs have started to develop. -Hairs on Plant 3 are multiplying rapidly. 1/14: -Watered with CalMag + Tiger Bloom again, lower dose of TB than the previous. -1 or 2 leaves removed from each plant. 1/17: -Watered with a low dose of CalMag and an extremely low dose of Big Bloom at 6.1 - 6.2 pH.

1/18: -Still stuck defoliating! Haven't really touched Plant 1 much at all, though. - Plant 2 has SO much extra growth, I've found it near impossible to not defoliate it often. - Plant 3 has seemingly started to focus on flowering and I don't think too much more defoliation will be needed on it. 1/20: -Defoliation nation, especially on Plant 2. -All plants received 6.1 pH feeding with 1/2 dose of Tiger Bloom and full dose of CalMag. -The smell that comes from the tent when I open it is now rather strong. Love it! 1/22: -Watered with no nutrients at all, just a 6.1 pH adjustment. 1/24: -This feeding was also pH 6.1, except they were given a much larger dose of Tiger Bloom (10mL/gallon). -Added small dose of Big Bloom. -Plant 2 is still quite a bit too lush, despite near daily defoliation. Hopefully the tent supplies enough air circulation to reach deep within all the vegetative growth.

1/25: -Plant 1 is seemingly only a week or two away from being done, though I'll of course keep an eye on it to make sure before pulling it. -Plant 2 has for sure begun to focus on flowering completely, so it's seemingly 3 weeks behind Plant 1 (somehow) and 1 week behind Plant 3. -Plant 3 is developing some gorgeous buds and as mentioned, is seemingly 1 week ahead with flowering than Plant 2. After smelling the buds developing on Plant 3, I noticed the buds on Plant 1 and 3 had completely different smells, despite begin the same MSNL Sour Diesel strain sent to me. We'll see how the smell of the buds continues along with more flower development. -All plants have been getting watered on and off between a nutrient solution and plain dechlorinated pH'd tap water. -I removed all the LST ties attached to Plant 1. 1/28: -Plant 1 received 6.2 pH water with no nutrients. Since the plant is within the later half of its' life cycle, I think I will begin to hold back on nutrients and allow leaves to continue to die off. -Plant 2 has been drooping a lot. I believe I've underwatered it since they went 2 - 3 days without water for the first time yet. Made sure to water it fully until I had some runoff with 6.2 pH and no nutrients. There was no immediate response and the plant was still drooping after its' full light cycle. Hopefully 6 - 8 hours in lights out will help solve the problem. -Plant 3 received 6.1 - 6.2 pH water with a 8mL dose of Tiger Bloom and a 2mL dose of CalMag. All LST ties were removed, perhaps a week or so too early, but hopefully it won't cause issues with its' canopy. 1/30: -Same water solution for Plant 1, with just a little smidge (not measured) of Big Bloom added, adjusted to 6.2 - 6.3 pH. -The drooping on Plant 2 has seemingly improved, at least a tad. Watered again with 6.1 - 6.2 pH solution with around 10mL of Tiger Bloom and 3 mL of CalMag, as well as a generous amount of not-measured Big Bloom. -Used the same watering solution on Plant 3 as Plant 2. 1/31: -Small amount of water given to all 3 plants, same as the previous day. 2/1: -An extremely overdue defoliation session was needed for Plant 2. Perhaps it's part of the reason it was drooping. The plant had SO much vegetative happening it had some spots within the center gaining literally 0 light, causing a couple of nodes to cripple away and die. After removing those dead nodes, I continued to remove A LOT of other lower nodes, as well as growth nodes that were simply too deep within the plant. The improvement is incredible, should have MUCH better light exposure now.

2/2: -Watered Plant 1 with nutrient-free 6.1 pH water till run-off. -Plants 2 and 3 were watered with a 10mL/gal dose of Tiger Bloom, 4mL/gal of CalMag and ~1.5tbsp/gal of Big Bloom. 2/3: -Watered with remaining supplies of previous solution. 2/5: -Watered Plant 1 with 6.2pH water. -Plant 2 and Plant 3 watered with 6.0pH water with a small dose of CalMag added (2.5mL/gallon). 2/7: -Watered Plant 1 with regular 6.0 - 7.0 pH water. -Watered Plant 2 and Plant 3 with a large dose of Tiger Bloom (12mL/gal), some CalMag (4mL/gallon) and a little bit of Big Bloom.

I noticed some growth that looked like seed pods on my plants. I am completely new to growing, so I was wondering what you guys thought. Is this normal bud growth, or are these seed pods? I removed a few and there was seemingly nothing inside.

These are female calyxes and completely normal for female plants. You are correct, they are indeed seed pods, but unless fertilized with male pollen, will remain empty/seedless. Masses of these calyxes result in the "buds" we smokers all seek. The older primordia/pre flowers that occur near the stems mature first and this is why they are much larger and swollen in comparison to the calyxes that are now forming in the new flowers. Hope this helps, Organoman.

2/9: -Plant 1 watered with 6.5 pH water. -Plants 2 and 3 watered with Tiger Bloom (10mL/gal), CalMag (4mL/gal) and Big Bloom (~2tsp/gal). 2/10: -I'm getting ready to pull Plant 1. I'll probably water it once more tomorrow and let it dry out for a day or two before cutting it. 2/11: -Plant 1 was watered again with regular non-nute water (6.5pH), going to be the last watering it will receive. Will allow it another day or two in the tent to further senesce. -Plant 2 and Plant 3 were watered with 8 mL/gal of Tiger Bloom and 3.5mL/gal of CalMag. -Continued defoliation of Plants 2 and 3, especially Plant 2 due to a lot of undergrowth which is getting no light. There was so much undergrowth that I was forced to remove at least some of it to prevent the overall plant from suffering. 2/12: -Plant 1 has been pulled and trimmed. I don't think it's going to be a very high yield for this particular plant due to the light schedule I had early on, but the buds smell fantastic and I'm EXTREMELY excited to smoke some in a week or so. I'll be sure to post the overall bud yield before smoking anything. -Plant 2 and 3 were given the rest of yesterdays watering solution. -As I predicted early on in the grow, Plant 1 was far ahead of both Plant 2 and 3. Plant 2 should be ready to pull in about 2-3 weeks, while Plant 3 should be ready in 1-2 weeks. 2/13: -Watered both plants with 6.0 pH solution, similar solution to the previous feeding, but with a little less Tiger Bloom (8mL/gal). 2/14: -Both plants given a small watering with the same solution as yesterday. 2/15: -Finished off the same solution on both plants. It wasn't too much at all, however I will probably give them a day without water. -I may start pulling back on the nutrients for Plant 3, if not the next feeding than soon after.

2/17: -Plant 2 watered with a small dose of Tiger Bloom (4mL/gal) and a small dose of CalMag (3mL/gal) at around 6.1 pH. -Plant 3 watered with no nutrients at around 6.1 pH. -Defoliation is still constant, perhaps I should be more proactive about it early on it the growth cycle? -Plant 1 is done drying after 6 days and has been put into a mason jar for curing to begin. I also did a 2nd dry trim to remove any spare leafage. Will post dry yield soon! 2/18: -Watered Plant 3 with no nutrient 6.1 pH water. -Watered Plant 2 with Tiger Bloom (4ml/gal), CalMag (4mL/gal) and some Big Bloom (2mL/gal) 2/20: -The total yield of Plant 1 was just short of 22 grams. Not fantastic, but this was expected due to the size of the plant. It doesn't taste fantastic either. I'm assuming this is due to the speed of the drying process and not lack of flushing, since I did flush the plant with runoff multiple times before harvest. It does smell great though, so it may just be due to lack of time cured, will update if a longer cure improves the taste. -I've been continuing to flush out Plant 3 with 6.1 pH water and no nutrients, will probably begin to increase the pH of the water closer to neutral as time passes. -Plant 2 is still receiving nutrients, though that will probably stop in a week or less. 2/21: -Watered Plant 3 with 6.5 pH water with no nutrients, made sure there was some runoff 2/23: -Watered Plant 2 with some water without nutrients at around 6.2 pH with no run-off. -Completely flushed out Plant 3 after a week of no nutrients, to ensure a lack of liquid nutrients in the medium. Will be pulling it within the next week, most likely around the end of the month.

I'll give the plant another couple of days to try and lose more color before harvest. 2/26: -Watered both plants with 6.1 pH water without any nutrients. Both plants had plenty of run-off as well. -Will more than likely be pulling Plant 3 within the next week. 3/1: -Watered both plants with 6.3 pH water without any nutrients. 3/2: -Pulled Plant 3 and placed into drying rack near humidifier to keep humidity around 40-60%. -Watered Plant 2 with 6.1 pH water, with a small dose of CalMag (3mL/gal).

3/4: -Watered Plant 2 with 6.2 - 6.3 pH water, no nutes. 3/5: -Watered Plant 2 with the same water as yesterday. 3/6: -Plant 3 is almost done drying. Humidity has steadily remained around 35% - 45% throughout. Some very small stems snap, while others do not. Will continue to allow it to dry for another day or two and begin dry trimming and curing. 3/8: -Need to finish trimming Plant 3 and place into curing, I'd say it's a day past drying, but I need to wait for my gloves to arrive to avoid getting my hands ridiculously sticky and ruining the buds. -Watered Plant 2 with 6.3 pH water. 3/9: -Plant 3 finished trimming and placed into curing jars. Will post the final yield of Plant 3 within the next few days. 3/10: -Flushed Plant 2 yet again with 2 gallons of 6.3 pH water to ensure no remaining nutrients are in the medium, short of slow-release. Will be pulling it within the next week. 3/11: -Will be pulling Plant 2 in the next few days and all 3 plants will be harvested at that point. After drying the final plant and getting it into curing jars, I'll post the final weight of all 3 plants and the average yield. I do believe I could have done WAY better, but I guess that's part of the learning experience.. 😞 3/14: -Plant 2 was pulled today and is currently in the process of drying. 3/15: -Plant 3's total yield = 56g -It's lacking in smell in the curing jar as opposed to the first plant. It also has the same exact flavor profile as the first plant, despite completely different flush times (two weeks on Plant 3 and one week on Plant 1). I also believe I may have overdryed Plant 3, so the smell could be lacking for that reason. However, that taste being almost identical despite the differences is definitely relevant, and I really do not like the taste at all. Nothing like actual Sour Diesel. 3/17: -Began trimming Plant 2 and placed half of it into a curing jar. It's seemingly still a bit too wet, considering the humidity was around 80% in the jar, so I'll continue to let it dry for a few hours - a day. 3/18: -Trimmed the rest of Plant 2 and placed into curing jars. It's still around the 70% humidity area in the jar, so I've been giving it some time outside of the jar as well. The smell is absolutely fantastic. It smells just like Sour Diesel, though so did Plant 1 and the taste was horrible on that harvest, so we'll see.

My harvested weed smells amazing, but tastes horrible. I'd say a bad chemical-like after taste. I thought it was due to poor flushing, but I flushed the 2nd plant for over 2 weeks and the 1st plant for 1 week. Not sure what caused this... Overfertilization? Something else?

U been curing for over two weeks?? First of all, make sure its not mold. Mold leaves a bad weird taste after smoking it. So make sure its properly dry and doesnt have that mold whiff to it when broken up. If thats fine and u didnt spray it with anything like neem oil during the grow move to next point... Second- Sour D takes ages to cure, most of the Chem Dog family does. 2 Months is more like the time u need on that one my friend. I have Sour D im smoking now I harvested last april- And its only been the last few months its settled down and is now very very smooth and easy to smoke. But I rushed the dry, so I admit its partly my own fault but even in years when I dried slower, It still takes longer than 2 weeks to cure. Give it more time and make sure your burping often for another two weeks at least.

Plant 1 never showed ANY signs of any deficiencies or stunted growth through it's entire life-cycle. It had a very small and quickly solved case of powdery mildew early on in veg (around veg week 2-3). It smelt fantastic ever since it started to have a scent. That aroma didn't go anywhere after drying/curing either. The one downside is the taste in comparison to the aroma, it's somewhat chemical-like, despite a week long flushing period. The leaves never started yellowing, despite the plant being almost 2 weeks ahead of Plants 2 and 3 and having buds and trichomes that were clearly ripe. Perhaps I should have started to flush sooner or the buds were over-ripe? Plant 3 started to lose a bit of color before harvest, as opposed to Plant 1. After drying, the taste was almost identical to Plant 1, who has been curing for over a month. I found this weird because Plant 1 was flushed for one week while Plant 2 was flushed for two weeks, yet they tasted almost identical. Both plants have a bad chemical after-taste despite the thorough flushes on both. Unsure if it's overfertilization or what had happened really. Though, it's definitely something to note.
