Today is 7 days from transferring germinated seeds to the coco starter cups. Light is at 18 inches, was at 50% intensity last week, increasing to 75% today. Back 2 seedlings (both critical orange punch) are sitting pretty at 2 inches, while front seedlings are both at 1 1/4. I moved the front cups back slightly to see if they catch up but could also be genetics. The tap root was also more developed on both critical orange punch seeds so thinking that could be why they are gaining height a little faster. For the first week they only received tap water, via a spay bottle daily. Today I have started a semi low dose of nutes, heavier in cal-mag and bio root, with a lower concentration of baseline nutrients, I’ll up the baseline nutes next week. Since I’m growing in coco I plan to feed every time I water. Today I watered to about 10-15% runoff. I keep 2 6 inch fans and an oscillating fan running in the tent to strengthen the stems so it’s running a little on the drier side. Adding a humidifier to the tent tomorrow and will aim for a much higher humidity, thinking 60-70%.

This week has been stressful on the pineapple chunk and one of the orange critical punch seedlings. Visible discoloration on both, but very apparent on the critical orange punch. I think drainage and airflow were a big factor. My guess is that those 2 plants were overwatered (all 4 showed signs of overwatering, but the other 2 were minor). I think the overwatering made certain nutrient deficiencies apparent, from what I can see it looks like possible phosphorus deficiency. I have upped the bloom in the feed to increase phosphorus and see if that rectifies the issue. These solo cups have also run their course, I am not sure if it was the bio root or some other nutrient but I have roots starting to peek out of my drainage holes in the bottom of the cup. I have coco buffering as I type, and will be transplanting to 5 gallon fabric pots in the morning.

This past week has been stressful for the plants but all are responding quite well. I transplanted to 5 gallon fabric pots in self buffered coco perlite mix, I was heavier handed with the perlite than intended and the mix ended up being about a 70/30 split. They all responded amazingly to the transplant and have had a ton of growth this week. I noticed rust forming in the lower sets of true leaves (guessing from the poor drainage and over watering in the solo cups) on the Pineapple Chunk and one of the Critical Orange Punch. I removed all affected leaves, and both plants have responded exceptionally well, I did this the day after I transplanted so lots of stress in a short period, but I didn’t want to risk the rust spreading to more leaves or other plants. On Friday all plants seemed relatively healthy and had developed 6 nodes (minus 2 that were removed because of rust on the Pineapple Chunk and the Critical Orange Punch). I instantly regretted it and thought I probably should have waited another week, but all 4 plants are responding very well so far. I also started a little LST to open them up and let light in the center to help promote growth of the new tops, that was today so time will tell on how they will respond, but in my experience LST usually provides decent results especially when started this early. I do plan to SCROG this grow, so all 4 will receive considerable LST and be topped a few more times in the coming weeks (as growth permits). I did make a big boo-boo when preparing for LST on the Blue Sunset Sherbert and nearly split the stem, this was after I had already topped so not ideal at all. I had to remove the node at the split, which could have potentially damaged the new growth shoots where I topped. It’s not displaying any signs of stress, but will be interesting to see how the growth looks given the damage.

This past week has been relatively uneventful for 3 of the 4 plants, which was a much needed break considering all of the additional stress they underwent last week with the topping and start of LST. Unfortunately the Blue Sunset Sherbert developed a very nasty case of rust mid week and I had to remove the lower sets of leaves as an attempt to save the plant and prevent the spread to others in the tent. 3 of the 4 plants have had costly run ins with rust this grow and have had to have the lower sets of leaves removed. Even more unfortunate, this was the same plant I nearly split in 2 after topping and starting LST. This was the strain I was most excited about so come hell or high water I’m not giving up on it. Will be interesting to see if it’s able to bounce back after so much early mutilation. I did notice possible cal mag deficiency in all 4 so I upped the dose to 5ml per gallon. Growing in coco I probably should have had a higher concentration from the start, so I’ll keep that in mind for next time. The other 3 have responded very well to topping and have 2 new thick tops developing. The Blue Sunset Sherbert ended more of a FIM job since I biffed it so much, fingers crossed for a strong recovery this week.

This was a solid week for all 4 plants. They have thrived and nearly doubled in size since last Saturday. I did notice some yellowing in all of the plants which I am currently treating as magnesium deficiency (time will tell if I guessed correctly). Luckily this has been minimal and seems to be correcting with the increase of cal mag. Thankfully no unexpected/unintentional trauma for any of the plants this week. I am beyond pleased with the recovery of the Blue Sunset Sherbert. It is still quite stunted vertically, about 4.5 inches tall vs the other 3 all around 7 inches, but has spread out beautifully. Very excited to see the continued progress of this one (super happy I didn’t kill it). I do plan to top again, but not sure if I will do that this coming week or the week after, will all depend on the progress made, I will have the scrog net in place in the next day or 2, just waiting for the majority of the plants to top 8 inches.

Lowered the scrog net Suday to get a jump on training. Also did some very mild defoliation to open up the center canopy of each plant which resulted in some nice growth. My goal is to train them wall to wall before switching to flower to maximize yield, so I’ve still got a ways to go. I was really impressed by the growth this week. They all seem to have taken really well to the light defoliation at the start of the week. I was so impressed that yesterday after observing how lush everything was, I decided to go ahead and top each plant a second time. I clipped around 5 tops from each, having just over 20 at the end (not sure which ones I took 6 from or I’d tell ya!). I added a before pic just to show the growth and how happy the plants were. They are recovering from the topping yesterday so are a little more tired in todays pics. I’m noticing the yellowing and reddening on certain plants has gotten a little worse. I’m going to switch up my nutes a little this week and see if I can’t even things back out. I think the feed schedule I’ve been following has led me a little astray and I’m going back to the recommended aggressive feed schedule from GH. It’s not a ton different from what I’ve done to this point, but hopefully this helps! Finally, the week wouldn’t be complete without me throwing praise towards the recovery of the Blue Sunset Sherbert(Barney’s). I thought for sure after the early FIM mess ups and other mutilations this gal was done for, but she has really impressed me in every way. She’s still a little smaller than the other 3, but I imagine the end of this coming week she’ll be all caught up.

I’m experiencing a lot of yellowing that progresses into dark red blotches. I suspected a possible cal mag deficiency but after upping the dose multiple times I’m still having issues. Any recommendations on possible causes/treatments? Temp stays between 74-76, humidity around 60%

I'm starting to suspect the onset of lock out. Your ph isn't bad but not great for where you're at in her growth. I'd lower it to around 6-5.8 to get better up take of nutrients for the late stage in veg/bloom transition. Also you have quite the powerful light and even though twenty inches might seem high enough it does look like some light burn on some of your canopy so maybe try raising your light first for an easy fix as well as adjusting your ph for uptake. Hope this helps.

Lots of growth this week. Recovering well from the 2nd topping. I did a good bit of defoliating with solid results. I am defoliating again today and if all goes well hope to flip into flower next week. Special thanks to the awesome growers that helped me with my grow questions this week: UnorthadoxDude, Ctrellis90, and gottagrowsometime. I think you all hit the nail right on the head with the PH issues, and I also appreciated the tip on the light distance! Since adjusting my PH to 5.8 and raising my light, I have seen much improved results. I’ve upped the cal mag slightly as well and between that and the PH adjustment cal mag issues seem to be evening out. I appreciate you all sharing your knowledge with me and helping me become a better grower in the process.

This past week has been fairly uneventful. I’m starting to see the plants fill out more of the scrog net, I’ve been focused on creating as even of a canopy as possible. Since all of the plants are doing so well I’m going to go ahead and transition to a 12/12 schedule tonight flipping into the flowering stage. I’ve had a ton of pistils start to show on the Pineapple Chunk (Barney’s) this past week, she has definitely been ready for the switch! At the moment she is by far the biggest of the bunch. The 2 Critical Orange Punch (Dutch Passion) are relatively close in size, while the Blue Sunset Sherbert (Barney’s) is still the smallest. Given all of the stress in the very early stages of veg, I have been very impressed with the resilience of the Blue Sunset Sherbert. She definitely took a beating, and while I do think she is a little stunted, I’m still hoping she’ll continue the bounce back into flower. I still have a ways to go to fill the tent, but I am hoping I’ll get the remaining canopy developed during the stretch. I am also adding liquid Kool Bloom to my nutrient solution this week and will continue through flower. Looking forward to this next week, and what growth the change to flower will bring.

The plants are all stable and showing steady progress since the flip to flower. I’m really hoping to see them stretch a good bit in the next few weeks, but very happy with the growth so far. I noticed there was a good bit of growth crowding the lower/middle of each plant so I lollipopped and defoliated them all mid week. My goal is to not do too much with them this week aside from tucking to fill out the net more. That said, I have been very happy with the canopy development to this point.

It’s been another good week. Happy to report we have finally achieved wall to wall growth. I’ve got a few spots towards the center of the net I need to to fill out a little more but very happy to have achieved the canopy I now have. Humidity has been a little higher(as expected in flower), towards the 80% range, so I bought a dehumidifier and placed it in the tent to hopefully help. Currently pulling about 1-2 liters out of the air a day and humidity has been sitting around 70%, I’ll look into opening more spots in the tent to maximize airflow and get that down a little more. All plants have fully shown sex and are indeed female, which was another huge relief. I’ve considered getting a 2nd net if the continue the stretch, but at this point I am not sure that I will need it. Very pleased with the progress of all 3 strains and I am incredibly thankful they are all staying roughly the same size! Excited to see what this week will bring.

Started this past week with a pretty heavy defoliation of all of the plants. Lost a good bit of canopy coverage, especially in the center of the tent, but over the week they’ve slowly filled back out. I’m hoping to be wall to wall again by the end of the week. Not much planned for them this week, will run the same level of nutes this week and next. I’ll probably do some minor pruning here and there, removing shady fan leaves to bring light to some lower bud sites and stuff like that. Dehumidifier is keeping RH around 70% but I’m going to see what I can do to bring that down a little more. Hoping for a week of continued growth, and looking forward to watching these bud sites take off.

This week was relatively uneventful, continued growth from all 4 plants and really starting to see some heavy trichome production on both of the Barney’s strains, Pineapple Chunk and Blue Sunset Sherbert. Definitely seeing trich production on both Dutch Passion Critical Orange Punch as well, just no where near as pronounced at this time. I have continued to struggle with humidity issues, and this week I discovered green algae forming on some perlite in the Blue Sunset Sherbert pot. Upon further review the coco was definitely over saturated, however the other 3 plants were fine and showed no issues. Around this time I also noticed a super pungent musty smell in the tent, I have throughly checked all plants and see no indication of bud rot or root rot, WPM, or any other mold or mildew. Following a recommendation from @Addonexus, I added several feet of ac tubing to my air intakes on each side of the tent. Since doing this, I have noticed a significant decrease in RH, currently 64% down from mid 70s mid week. Thank you for the tip! I will continue to work on lowering this and may need to just buckle down and get a bigger dehumidifier. I’m also feeding less more often, in hopes that this helps avoid overwatering (and maybe humidity) issues going forward. Fingers crossed this weeks sees continued progress, and decreased humidity.

Another good week in the tent. I was finally able to get my RH down to a fairly stable 58-60% by switching up my ventilation, adding an additional fan, and switching to watering twice a day instead of all at once. Really happy with the bud development across the board. Seeing very good results from the ScrOG training, a nice even canopy with lots of frosty tops! The Pineapple Chunk and Blue Sunset Sherbert (both Barney’s) continue to impress with trich development. They are absolutely covered in gorgeous, frosty trichomes. The Critical Orange Punch (Dutch Passion) are definitely starting get a little frost, but nowhere near the level of the other 2. That said, bud development does look about a solid week behind the Barney’s plants, so hard to tell if it’s genetics or if they will just take a little longer to mature. I am still very very pleased across the board! On top of that, my tent smells super dank this week, in the best possible way haha. Switching into late flower nutes this week and next, then will do a week of ripen followed by a week flush. Current target harvest is around May 20th, but will of course base that final decision on the trichs. Really hoping to see these buds start packing on some weight these next few weeks. Excited to see what the week brings.

This week has been relatively uneventful. Buds have really bulked up, the liquid koolbloom really did its thing! I did some pretty heavy defoliation this morning to open up the lower canopy and allow the lower sites to develop a little more these last few weeks. Target harvest is still 05/20 if the trichs will abide. Happy growing!

I believe this will be one of my last posts for this grow. We’re in the home stretch! Based on trich development I’m starting my flush today for all 4 plants. We’ve got cloudy trichs across the board, with a dotting of some amber in between on the Barney’s plants (maybe 1-2% amber, still very little but starting the flush today they should end right where I want them) I plan to flush until Wednesday or Thursday then let them dry out a day or 2 for some last resort resin production before harvesting Saturday or Sunday. Overall I have been very happy with this grow. I’ve learned a lot about the importance of controlling ph and humidity, and Ive had a chance to try some new techniques that have definitely shown some visible results! This was my first time topping, and my first time trying the ScrOG method. I will definitely be using both of these techniques in the future, but will go about both a little more methodically on the next grow. Specifically, waiting a little longer before topping the first time. I think I definitely lost a little height from topping so early, and while my canopy definitely didn’t disappoint, I feel like being a little more patient and attentive in the early stages would have definitely helped me fill a lot of the gaps I have now. Every grow is a learning experience that helps you do a little better on the next one. My next update will most likely be post harvest, with wet and dry weights & pics. I am very excited to see what kind of yield I pull this grow. I’ll be starting another diary as soon as the tent is cleared and cleaned from this grow. The next grow will be autos to get rid of some freebies I’ve accumulated. Until then, happy growing!!

Firstly, I apologize for the lack of solid pictures! It was admittedly the last thing on my mind when harvesting, so Ive got what I’ve got haha. This has been my problem child plant from the start-albeit that had more to do with my mistakes than anything else! From the jump the one thing this strain has shown me is that it is hearty & resistant! Early on I accidentally split the stem when topping, she was stunted for awhile but came back in full effect and produced some of the largest buds this harvest! Despite frequent overwatering and humidity issues there was no sign of any rot, mold, or mildew. Overall a very strong forgiving strain that I would recommend to beginner and master growers alike! This strain required frequent defoliation. Thanks to the ScrOG method, I was able to develop an even canopy with very large, dense colas. After a full dry and trim I was very pleased with the yield, one plant netted 4.13 ounces. This plant combined with the other 3 plants/strains in the tent helped me net a total dried & trimmed 17.94 ounces! This is the first time I have ever cleared a pound, so very pleased with this harvest overall. Thank you to everyone for your comments, suggestions, and support along the way! I’ll be starting a new diary in just a few weeks so stay tuned!

This plant has been my strongest/largest from the gate, so no surprise she was my biggest yielder! Incredibly strong/resilient from the start, however everything seemed to just go right for this plant. Lots of defoliation and attention helped cultivate dense medium-large nugs that certainly pack a punch! Very flavorful, and amazing aroma. I will definitely be growing this strain again!

I was pleasantly surprised by the yield from these 2. Plant #1 (back left this grow) yielded a whopping 4.79 ounces, my 2nd biggest producer this grow! #2 yielded 3.57 ounces, which while the lowest of the 4, is still an extremely respectable yield for a single plant in a 4 plant tent! Especially one that received as little attention as this one did. #2 remained resilient the entire grow, however due to the placement of my tent received the least amount of attention/defoliation, which is consistent with its yield. #1 was more easily accessible, and while it did have cal mag & ph issues early on, still received significant defoliation and care, hence the larger yield. Overall very happy with this strain, I have 3 of these seeds on hand, so there’s a good chance you’ll see another Critical Orange Punch diary from me in the future! Thanks again to everyone for their comments, advice, and support! I’ll be starting a new grow/diary in a few weeks, so keep an eye out! Until then, happy growing!!
