June 7, 2023 Day 8
Watermelon One has kind of a weak stem.
Watermelon Two is shorter, but the stem is stronger. They have both started on their first node and I expect them to spike in growth.
They are now starting to get too broad for the Starbucks Domes, so I had to remove them. I have a humidifier pointed between them for a much more better environment. The temp is at a nice 77.5° and both ladies are happy as ever.
I started the priming process for the bottom feed system. Everything checks out. Now it's just a matter of checking the moisture levels over the next week while these babies grow and the soil acclimates to a decent moisture level. They won't be getting any top watering for the next week as well. A mist on the leaves every few hours, but nothing more.
Watermelon One:
Height: 3.5"
DLI: 21.5 (a bit high)
Watermelon Two:
Height: 2.5
DLI: 20
Lower Grow System Environment:
Temp: 77.5°
RH: 68.5% (estimated)

Today the plants were upgraded to the Soda Domes. Much more space. Hopefully they will stay under there for a couple more days.
Watermelon One is really lanky. I may have to install a support. I also think she isn't getting enough light anymore. The domes allow a DLI of about 13 in. I'll keep an eye on that one.
Lower Grow System Environment:
Temp: 76°
RH: 65% (estimated)

Both ladies are doing quite well. Watermelon One is standing up quite nicely now. Leaves are starting to grow out, but she has some coloring issues. I'm honestly not sure what is going on with this one. So far not a thing has been done differently with these two plants. So one is smaller but definitely healthier, but the other grew faster but has some sort of issue. I don't know if it's stunting growth or not, but she seems to be growing at the same pace as the other one. Maybe she is a bit more sensitive to the soil?
Watermelon Two is absolutely gorgeous. Beautiful color nice broad leaves starting to grow. Great stem. She looks super healthy. Taking quite well to her home in the Sohum soil. Very happy.
Lower Grow System Environment:
Temp: 75°
RH: 65% (estimated)
June 10, 2023
Had to remove the soda domes today. Both ladies are looking fantastic and growing quite nicely. They are just too big for the domes and are hitting the sides. So off they come. Each got a misting of plain water. The humidity happens to be kinda high today, so it's perfect for these ladies to come out of the soda domes.
Grow System Environment:
Temp: 74.8°
RH: 60.6%
VPD: 1.15 kPa
June 11, 2023
Nothing to report today. Both ladies look good and are happy without the domes. Decent growth overnight. So it's just a matter of waiting for them to take off. Hopefully they will.
Grow System Environment:
Temp: 73.7°
RH: 62.1%
VPD: 1.08 kPa
June 12, 2023
Watermelon One looks great. She has some wonderful leaf production and starting on the second node now. Broad green leaves. Stem is getting stronger.
Watermelon Two is beautiful. She has a strong stem and some lush leaves. Broad and green.
Watering for both ladies is perfectly fine. Bottom Feed system should have reached the roots by now and we should see some rapid growth in the next couple of days. Let's hope for some vigor from these ladies. They are a 70bdays strain, so I'm hoping for some early explosive growth.
Grow System Environment:
Temp: 72.6°
RH: 63.3%
VPD: 1.01 kPa
June 13, 2023
These ladies are starting to take off. Not much else to report on them. Colors look great. Water intake seems perfect. All is good.
Grow System Environment:
Temp: 75.3°
RH: 63.7%
VPD: 1.10 kPa
Looking for a second, third, forth and so on opinion. One of the plants in this diary is in the tent with a huge Zkittlez Auto. It's really squished in there. Overlapping branches and leaves. How to make it fit? Thanks! Snip outer leaves? Remove tie downs? Let it ride? Thanks!
You can use LST, given that its in flower now and its an auto to much stress can stunt it growth.
Some autos grow massive some don't its a real coin toss. A lot of people prefer photoperiods as you can do almost anything to them in veg and they will recover. HST LST w/e
Good Luck!
There is one auxiliary branch that has weird leaf formations. The rest of the plant is fine. Just the one branch. It's got strange curled leaves. Still green. Tons of trichomes and no pests or anything. Any insight?
3 options, one should be out, because its auto, but i saw many strange autos, so :
1. light leak, some stupid reveg mode at certain point
2. too intense light and heat
3. heavy excess of nitrogen during flower caused it.
This is looking beautiful! Love the red trim on those sugar leaves. I'm wondering why the RH is 57.5%? Haven't seen this so late in flower before and would love some insight. From a noobie growmie, great work!!
@Prilyfe13, Ah I understand! I'm also fighting high humidity with season change occurring. I've got a portable heater in my environment and that has been a bud-saver. Not sure if that's something you can incorporate - keeping temp under ~79C?
Thanks so much for your response, and again - congratulations on the grow thus far, it's incredible!
@MMSC16, Thanks! These ladies are definitely pretty. The RH is not on purpose. I'm fighting super high humidity at home. I'd much rather it be around 50% if not 45%. I just record what my averages are for the week. So far, I haven't seen any issues. Flowering is slow, so it might be the RH? Not too sure to be honest. Thanks again!
Evoluciona con un colores preciosos!
No te preocupes en dejar un par de semanas más a la planta numero 2
Seguramente te recompensará con unos cogollos bien duros!
