Week 3: Strong development and first measures
Hello dear weed friends,
I am back with my third weekly report on my grow with four different strains: Lemon Gelato, Orange Sherbert, Apple Fritter and Bruce Banner. This week was very exciting and educational for me, because I took some measures to optimize the growth and yields of my plants. I also transplanted them into larger pots to give them more space for their roots. But let’s start from the beginning.
The plants have developed strongly this week and show their individual characteristics.
The Lemon Gelato develops its genetic defect more and more, which manifests itself in a white leaf color. This is very rare and occurs only in a few plants. It may be that it produces less chlorophyll and thus performs less photosynthesis. This could have a negative impact on its growth and potency. But I do not give up hope that it will recover and reward me with a nice harvest. She is a very special plant to me.
The Orange Sherbert has some problems with the heavily pre-fertilized Allmix soil, which leads to a slight nutrient excess. She shows some burns on the leaves, but nothing serious. I will give her a little less water and hope that she adapts. She is a very beautiful plant to look at.
The Apple Fritter is the strongest and healthiest of all. She grows fast and has a nice growth. I am very proud of her and topped her today to limit her vertical growth. However, I decided not to mainline her and continue as I learned in my first grow to improve my technique before I try something new. So I will only do topping 1-3 and LST on her. This is a reasonable decision, because it is important that I improve my technique before I try something new. Mainlining is an advanced method that requires a lot of experience and skill. It is better that I focus on topping and LST to train my plants. These are also very effective methods that can increase my yields and keep my plants healthy.
The Bruce Banner has no problem at all, she is strong and healthy. She has a thick stem and many leaves. She looks like a typical sativa-dominant strain that needs a lot of space. I will also top her next week and train her with LST to influence her shape. She is a very powerful plant to me.
To control the growth and increase the yields, I took some measures. I already told you about the topping and the LST, but what is mainlining? Mainlining is a technique that involves pruning and tying the plant so that it forms eight even main branches, all of the same height and thickness. This should ensure optimal light distribution and even flowering.
I also decided to plant an intermediate pot before the final pots, which I already did. The plants were just too thirsty and needed more space for their roots. I also prefer a stable pot for the young plants to tie the wires. The final pots will be 20 liter fabric pots, which offer good ventilation and drainage.
Small update: I upgraded today to a Lumatek 300 watt pro edition, because I was so impressed by my first experience with the lamp. It has a full spectrum, a high PAR output and a dimmable function. It can cover up to 1.2 x 1.2 m area and has a long lifespan of up to 60,000 hours. I attached it with a hanging system to the ceiling of my tent and adjusted the height so that it fits perfectly to my plants. It consumes only 300 watts of electricity and cost me 450 euros. I am sure that it will provide my plants with the best light possible and that I will achieve even better results with it.
I am very happy about my upgrade and look forward to the next weeks. I am curious how my plants will develop and how their aroma and potency will improve. I love trying new things and optimizing my grow. It is a great experience and a big hobby for me.
Have you ever used a Lumatek lamp? How are your experiences with it? Do you have any other recommendations for good LED lamps? Write me in the comments. I am always open for new ideas and suggestions. If you have any questions about my grow, feel free to ask me. I am happy to help you out. Thank you for your support and your interest in my grow. You are the best followers in the world.
@GrowWithFlow,Thank you dude, yes this is my second grow in a lifetime. Your plants look really outstanding, enjoy your west coast o.g. and don’t glue your hands together when trying 😅
@Schneidersitz,Vielen Dank, mein Freund.
Das klingt nach einem guten Plan. Du kannst dich gerne in meinem Zelt entspannen,
Thank you for your kind comment, Dolfom. I'm glad you like the plants.
You're right, the growth phase is an exciting time in which you can observe and influence changes. I fell so much better now to work with the plant.
I'm excited to see how the plants will develop further. They are much better than my first attempt.😍
I hope you stay tuned and watch the next episodes. 😊👌@Dolfom,
Wow buddy!! super nice buds
What an amazing grow so far - good job and well done 🤝
Happy Growing & cant wait for your upcoming weeks 🌱
Cheers, Bud Boutique 👩🌾
@BudBoutique, Thank you man, I can only return the compliment.
The next 2 weeks are very important for me, because after that I will hardly be able to count on mass production.
Thank you, see you soon.
@Wastent91, Thanks for your nice comment. I'm glad you like the little girls.
They are very hyperactive and I have to train and play with them every day.
They are growing very quickly now.
I also wish you good luck and great harvests. 😊
Bon Weed
☮️
@Dolfom,I can understand that with the branches, this grow a branch broke off when I removed the tent, which is now growing super strong and rich in buds, sometimes pain helps. I will do a sensi run again for the 4th grow, I was thrilled with the first one and my wife wants CBD from Sensi. If something happens with the legalization here next year, maybe outdoor. I will definitely add some newer ones from the research program, the strains sound just too delicious, take care and see you soon brother
@Dolfom, Jo Buddy, they are not developing the way I want them to, apart from the Apple Fritter, but that can still change later. I have decided to stick with my old techniques and perfect them first. i have to check u out now ✌️.
@Still_Smoq,The end is always like chewing gum, really tough but so nice how they smell this time it is easy to bear, thank you for your visits and great comments.👇
Thank you Dolfom, I really appreciate what you say. Sensi Seeds is the most famous producer of seeds in my country, that’s why I used them and was not disappointed as expected. I will visit Amsterdam in 2 days and there also hopefully be able to make my decision for new strains, visits to Sensi and Barneys are planned and I am very happy maybe to test a few strains that I already have in the tent. And again thank you for the congratulations, I would have rated other growers higher but I am happy because of that only more.
I’m enjoying a drag of my Sensi Skunk now and look forward to hearing from you soon. Peace🙌
Jo dude, thanks for your comment, I’m also curious how it will turn out and whether they will look very different, which I hope to give my grow title some meaning, when do you plan to start a new run and do you have any ideas for strains?
Hi Chef , yes indeed, I was not satisfied with the video quality here on the site and I have been waiting for a long time for an answer from the support regarding the video formats and sizes that I can use, nice that you like it👊, I think I will make the videos only accessible via the link until the grow is finished and then make it public and slowly build up the channel.✊
@PapaNugs,Thank you for your positive comment. I am honored by your reaction.
I'm much more confident than the first time. I look forward to learning different techniques and improving mine in the future.
This community and people like you are both inspiration and teachers. ! 👏 👏 👏
Hello Dolfom, based on your results I would not call your lamps rubbish, but yes I can understand you. Better is always possible.
I can only recommend the lamp to you.
I hope for good to very good development in this week. It remains exciting how they develop.
Thank you for your visits, it is always an honor for me.✊
Hey Buddy, I finally understand! she was acting so weirdly aggressive all the time, if the apple fritter doesn’t change her narcissistic ways by next week, I’ll have to lock her up! Do you know how to waterboard cannabis plants? :D
I can’t wait for your harvest, you have a great selection then <3!
BTW : Sometimes the automatic translation of the site is crazier than the crap I write. Be careful.😂😄
