Week 8: Start of the flowering phase Hello dear weed friends, I’m back with my eighth weekly report on my grow with four different strains: Lemon Gelato, Orange Sherbert, Apple Fritter and Bruce Banner. This week was the start of the flowering week, because I changed my light cycle from 18/6 to 12/12. That counts for me as the start of the flowering phase, but you can also use other criteria, such as the first signs of the flowers or the pre-flowering. How do you do it? Feel free to write it in the comments.🙏 This week was very labor-intensive for me, because I made some changes to my setup and continued to care for my plants. But I also had some successes and am very happy with the result. Here are the details: I changed my tent, because I needed more space for my plants. They have grown very large and have almost completely filled the net. I bought a larger tent that offers more height and width. That was a good decision, because I now have more leeway for the stretch and the flowers. I installed a larger carbon filter with insulated ventilation, which significantly reduced the noise level. I don’t hear anything in the next room and can concentrate better. That is also important for odor control, because the plants will soon start to smell intensely. The plants survived the change of the tent well and recovered quickly. They adapted very well to the new environment and continued to grow. This week I am very happy with the canopy, which looks really promising. I defoliated the plants again to release more light on the flowers. But that was not the last defoliation for this grow, because I will do another defoliation in two weeks to improve air circulation and light transmission. All plants are doing very well now, including the Lemon Gelato, which still shows its genetic defect. It has some leaves that have a whitish color. That looks weird, but it doesn’t seem to hurt her. She has many beautiful shoots and will hopefully produce delicious buds. The plants are very thirsty and drink almost 2 liters in 24 hours. This is because they evaporate a lot of water due to the high temperature and humidity in the tent. I lowered the temperature a bit to slow down the metabolism of the plants and reduce the stretch. I keep the humidity at about 50 percent, which is ideal for flowering. I noticed a slight over-fertilization in the Orange Sherbert last week, which showed up in yellow tips on some leaves. That was probably because I gave too much fertilizer or because the plant needs more water due to the stretch. I therefore only watered with pH-adjusted water first and gave only 50 percent of the fertilizer next time. The time after that I will give 100 percent again if everything looks good. I am very satisfied with the lighting of my new lamp, which offers a full spectrum and reaches all areas of the tent. The shoots on the side have the same height and strength as those in the middle. That shows me that the lamp was a good investment. I am curious how my plants will develop in the next few weeks.
