nonick123 Welcome to Biscotti's diary for the ZAMNESIA & PLAGRON Contest! I was drawn to its parents (South Florida OG vs. Gelato) and its profile of 80% indica / 20% sativa, where I hope to have a phenotype leaning towards the Indica side. I hope its Indica part helps withstand the low temperatures it will face at the end of flowering, as that is a parameter I won't be able to control... 09/30: A seed is placed in a glass with filtered water (TDS 50 PPMs) + 2 drops of hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) and placed in a dark spot at 26 ºC for 18 hours. 10/01: A 400 ml pot is prepared with Light Mix substrate + 15% Coco + 10% Perlite. The pot is moistened to runoff with filtered water (TDS: 50 PPMs). A 1 cm deep hole is made, the seed is randomly placed in the hole, covered with a bit of substrate, and lightly moistened with spray water. The pot is placed in a propagator with 4 LED lights, which emit 200 - 300 PPFD (the LED won't turn on until it germinates!)

nonick123 Day 10 (12/10). The roots have filled the root ball in just over 10 days. Transplanted into a 5-liter pot with a substrate made up of 40% Light Mix + 30% Coco + 30% Perlite. The substrate is soaked with 1.5 liters of rested water at pH 6.4, and the transplant is done. It’s taken to the cabinet, and the height of the lamp is adjusted to achieve a PPFD of 290. Day 13 (15/10). The seedling is still forming its initial leaves with a healthy and vibrant color. I hope it stretches nicely in the coming days!

nonick123 Day 29 (31/10). I detect some flies in the substrate and place a yellow sticky trap at the substrate level. A few hours later, there are already several flies stuck. Day 30 (01/11). The plant is NOT reacting well to the topping. It's growing very slowly. The difference with its closet mate is noticeable... Day 27 (03/11). The transplant is done into an 11-liter (3-gallon) Smart Pot with Biobizz Light Mix substrate + 2 grams of Azomite per liter of substrate. The root ball was packed with roots! In 22 days since the last transplant, the roots are ready to be transplanted (maybe 3 or 4 days earlier would have been better, because it was hard to get the root ball out of the pot). I water with 1 liter of rested H2O + 1 ml/l of Molasses + 1 ml/l of BioGrow Biobizz + 1 ml/l of Sugar Royal - pH 6.5 - 740 PPMs. Let's see how it reacts to the transplant! Day 34 (05/11). The plant has reacted well to the transplant and is finally starting to stretch its lateral branches. In a few days, to flowering!

nonick123 Day 37 (08/11). I'm applying LST to this girl who will go into flower in 3 days. I hope to see a powerful response! 😍💥 She currently has a relatively wide internodal space that has allowed me to play with her branches. Day 39 (10/11). I'm changing the light schedule to 15/9 (gradual transition to flowering). Day 40 (11/11). Sometimes incredible things happen in this community. Our growmie @Theia selflessly offered to send me a ViparSpectra XS2000 lamp. Yesterday I finally picked it up at the post office and today I installed it! 😍😁 It's amazing to have a lamp that almost completely covers the width of the cabinet (the lamp is 50 cm, and the cabinet is 60x60 cm), which makes the light uniformity (PPFD) over the plants almost complete, as it physically covers them almost entirely. Now I understand @Theia's theory that lights should be oversized and play with the dimmer, as it allows you to have practically perfect coverage! I think this is going to give an impressive boost to my crops! 😍💥 Thank you so much @Theia for doing this for me! I'm adjusting the LST of the plants; I think I'm achieving a pretty level canopy (that's my intention). I'm changing the light schedule to 14/10 (gradual transition to flowering). I'm watering with 1 liter of rested H2O + Molasses 1 ml/l + BioGrow Biobizz 1.5 ml/l + Sugar Royal 1 ml/l - pH 6.25 - 750 PPMs. Day 41 (12/11). Final transition to flowering with a light schedule of 12/12 💥 The plants are showing many new shoots today and impressive growth. I think the combination of the new lamp + the start of stretch is giving the girls a good push! 😍

Flowering: What is the best schedule for the extractor and fan in the cabinet (60x60x160 cm)? I follow the schedule in the attached image I don't know if I should turn on the extractor for more hours (145 m3/h), or if I should turn off the fan (20W) at some point The intake is passive

Hey buddy! I agree with the guys, 24 hours with fans, exhausts, and intakes on. I used to turn them off at night to prevent cooling, but I found out that humidity rises, temperature drops, and mold forms at night. I always recommend keeping them on. And as they said here too, if you turn off the extraction, the plant runs out of CO2 after a while and starts turning yellow, like it's suffocating.

nonick123 Day 49 (11/20/2023). One of the main branches has stretched a lot, surpassing the rest by about 4 cm. I adjust the LST to even out the canopy. Day 50 (11/21/2023) Finally, this girl is showing her pre-flowers! 😁 It’s been 9 days since the switch to 12/12. I water with 1 liter of H2O (Base ≈ 264 PPMs) + Molasses 1 ml/l + Alga Bloom 2.5 ml/l + Sugar Royal 1 ml/l + Power Buds 1 ml/l - pH 6.42 - 756 PPMs. I’ve introduced a change in the watering water in this diary from the beginning. I’m using 50% rested tap water (≈550 PPMs) + 50% reverse osmosis water (6 PPMs). The result is a base H2O with TDS of ≈264 PPMs. Day 51 (11/22/2023) I’m doing selective defoliation of a couple of leaves that are blocking the secondary branches in the center of the canopy. Is this a good idea? Day 52 (11/23/2023) I’m being unfaithful to what I said a few days ago 😁 and I'm adjusting the LST again to have a perfectly level canopy. Well, in the end, growing is about flowing with the plant, right? 😍 I defoliate 2 more leaves in the center of the canopy to improve light penetration. Day 54 (11/25/2023) The plant is starting to stretch, so I raise the lamp to have about 600 PPFD in the canopy. Day 55 (11/26/2023) I water with 1 liter of H2O (Base ≈ 264 PPMs) + Molasses 1 ml/l + Alga Bloom 3 ml/l + Sugar Royal 1 ml/l + Power Buds 1 ml/l - pH 6.35 - 718 PPMs. This week I increased Alga Bloom by 0.5 ml/l because the TDS allowed it. I don’t want to go above 750 PPMs until flowering progresses further. Currently, the plant looks very healthy, with a deep green color but not excessive, and with the new shoots being a bright light green. All the nodes are starting to show flower formation, so we can say that the plant is formally in flowering.

nonick123 Day 56 (11/27/2023) The plant is starting to stretch! It has grown several centimeters since yesterday. I need to raise the lamp so it doesn't exceed 650 PPFD. Day 57 (11/28/2023) Rapid vertical growth! I'm raising the lamp again to maintain 650 PPFD at the canopy. Day 59 (11/30/2023) The stretch is progressing quickly, so I'm going to change the setup in the tent a bit. So far, the fan was above the lamp to keep the lamp close to the canopy, but since this is moving fast, I decide to flip it. I raise the lamp to 35 cm from the canopy and place the fan right underneath. This way, the plants receive a bit more direct air, but nothing excessive in my opinion. I adjust the dimmer on the lamp to 50%, where I'm already getting about 680 - 700 PPFD at the canopy. Let's see how they stretch in the coming days! 😁 On another note, I'm going to start measuring the height of the plants daily because I realize that by looking at them every day, I'm not able to assess the growth rate unless I take measurements! Day 61 (12/02/2023) Watering with 1 liter of H2O (Base ≈ 264 PPMs) + Molasses 1 ml / l + Alga Bloom 3 ml / l + Sugar Royal 1 ml / l + Power Buds 1 ml / l - pH 6.25 - 768 PPMs. The plant has a very interesting stretch and looks very sleek 😍 It's growing at a rate of 1.5 cm per day And it's starting to develop its first trichomes! 😍😍💜💜💚💚

nonick123 Day 63 (04/12/2023) I defoliated a couple of leaves that were blocking light from the center of the canopy. Day 64 (05/12/2023) The plants are going through a light defoliation in the canopy and a more severe Lollipopping process with disinfected scissors. Following the advice of my friend and great grower @MiyaguiOkPolilla, I applied a bit of cinnamon to the cuts. Let's see how it reacts to this stress! Day 65 (06/12/2023) The plant doesn't seem to have been much affected by the defoliation and Lollipopping because it has grown 2 cm in 24 hours 😁 I defoliated one more leaf that I forgot yesterday and it "shades" an entire branch. Another important point is that it’s starting to get cold, and they are at 19 ºC with the lights on and 15-17 ºC with the lights off... Day 66 (07/12/2023) I watered with 1 liter of H2O (Base ≈ 264 PPMs) + Molasses 1 ml/l + Alga Bloom 4 ml/l + Sugar Royal 1 ml/l + Power Buds 1 ml/l - pH 6.23 - 875 PPMs. I increased the Alga Bloom to 4 ml/l, and the PPMs are higher than I would like. The next watering will be at 3.5 ml/l Alga Bloom. Additionally, I added a few centimeters of Light Mix substrate since it has compacted and lowered in level. Day 67 (08/12/2023) The stretch has stopped. Day 68 (09/12/2023) The smell starting to come out of the closet is interesting 😍😂 Time to buy and install a filter for extraction. Day 69 (10/12/2023) The buds are starting to fatten up 😍 It’s an unusual temperature for this time of year, so I have 24 ºC with the lights on and 18 ºC with the lights off. A bit too warm for this time of year in my area!

nonick123 Day 70 (11/12/2023) I removed a couple of leaves (defoliation) from the inner part of the canopy that were casting "shade" on the buds. Day 71 (12/12/2023) Following the plan from the sponsor of this diary, PLAGRON, we started adding Green Sensation! My friend @MiyaguiOkPolilla tells me it's a nutrient that has a big impact on the plants. We're going to evaluate it this cycle! 😁 Watering: 1 liter H2O + Molasses 1 ml/l + Alga Bloom 2 ml/l + Sugar Royal 1 ml/l + Power Buds 1 ml/l + Green Sensation 1 ml/l - pH 6.24 - 875 PPMs Following the advice of my growmie @Clutch, I decided to open up the branches of the canopy. @Clutch made me realize that if the buds get too fat (which is the goal 😁), they'll end up touching each other, which isn't good for proper air circulation and avoiding problems like bud rot. The taller branches are very solid, but with the help of copper wire and clips to secure them to the edge of the pot, I managed to open them all up. Day 72 (13/12/2023) The buds are starting to feel dense to the touch, and my wife is already telling me that the house "stinks" every time I'm with the plants 😁 Day 73 (14/12/2023) The PrimaKlima filter has arrived. I'm proceeding to set it up. Opening the canopy seems to have been a good idea. The buds are stretching upwards. Day 74 (15/12/2023) The plant is starting to release a hazelnut-like aroma, and the buds are beginning to feel dense to the touch 😍 Day 75 (16/12/2023) As flowering progresses, I'm raising the PPFD to 800. Day 76 (17/12/2023) The plant has started to show senescence in the lower leaves. I don't think it's a deficiency because the leaves in the canopy look healthy and green. Watering: 1 liter H2O + Molasses 1 ml/l + Alga Bloom 2 ml/l + Sugar Royal 1 ml/l + Power Buds 1 ml/l + Green Sensation 1 ml/l - pH 6.18 - 885 PPMs

Happy Harvest Day!
Rated

Unfortunately, I had to harvest early because the plant has turned into a hermaphrodite... You can see the "bananas" in the attached photos. I add that I have seen this genetics show hermaphroditism in other grow journals on the forum, it seems quite prone to hermaphroditism... Its grow shop companion has not presented it and is about to be harvested. -Update after drying- Harvest Wet Weight Report & Dry Weight of Biscotti by Zamnesia ⚖️ Total wet weight 69 Grams ⚖️ Total dry weight 22.8 Grams 💦Water loss during the drying process 66.96% 🎨Colors Nothing special. Despite facing low temperatures, it has not shown any color other than green. 👃Smells 💐Flowering The smells during flowering have been very pleasant, a smell of raw peeled hazelnuts when you just take them out of the bag. Delicious. 🏜️ Drying After 12 days of drying, most of the aromas have been lost and it doesn't smell when pressing the buds... we will wait to see how it evolves after curing. 🍗 Curing After a month of curing, the smell of the buds is a mix of butter and hot sunflower oil. 🍽️Taste See smoke report. Variety 💪Resistance Suspended. The plant showed hermaphroditism during flowering. Its closet companion had the same temperatures and was stable. I have seen other journals with this hermaphrodite plant.... 🏋️‍♂️Training: It has adapted well to Topping and LST performed. 🌱Vegetative: A fast-growing vegetative. It showed well-formed roots during the transplant from 7 to 11-liter pots. 💐 Flowering: A slow flowering step (9 days from 12/12), a reasonable stretch, and a flowering full of male flowers due to hermaphroditism... 😡 Genetics: The summary would be a genetics that seems to tend towards hermaphroditism. It has happened to me and other growers, as can be seen in other journals. 👨‍⚖️Conclusion: NOT recommended due to its tendency towards hermaphroditism. A shame because the terpene profile is interesting with that marked smell of raw hazelnuts.

nonick123 Since it has been harvested earlier than it should have, I'll see if I do any extraction or something similar... It's a shame because the smell of the strain is great in flowering, something like freshly shelled hazelnuts straight out of the bag...

Buaaah, that plant looks really good! It looks very healthy and strong, brother. Those stretches it has must be a great biological effort, a reflection of the good nutrition you're giving it and the power of the genetics 💪🏽 Good luck with it, I know you'll do great!
