I'm thrilled to share my latest project: two exceptional grow environments, each a lush green haven with 9 plants on plant rollers. We’re employing a blend of Scrog (Screen of Green) and Sog (Sea of Green) techniques. Each plant has its individual ScroG, directly connected to its air-pot, facilitating easy mobility and care within the tent.
As the Room is on the cooler side at the moment, I've set up a Solea infrared heater, controlled by an Inkbird ITC-308 temperature controller, to maintain a cozy climate. Each tent is also equipped with a Spider Farmer Cool Mist humidifier for perfect humidity levels. Initially, I planned for identical setups in both tents, but adaptation is crucial. I encountered a challenge with the UR45 lights due to their single plug and UV/IR switches. To overcome this, in Tent 1, I’ve installed two UR45 lights: one dedicated to IR and the other to UV, each managed by a Meross smart plug.
The Mars Hydro app manages the light and in-line fan controls in Tent 2, though it has its limitations. The ITC-308 takes care of the infrared heater, while the humidifier regulates itself. I'm really into this setup, but I'm already thinking about upgrading to a single grow controller for all devices.
Excitingly, ‘Epic Buzz’ in Tent 1 is competing in the Tent-X Ultimate Grow Challenge sponsored by Trolmaster, who has also sponsored a Tent X Controller for this tent. This addition will greatly enhance our control and monitoring capabilities in this tent.
This grow season is extra thrilling as I’m collaborating with Anesia Seeds and Ganja Farmer Seeds. They've provided some amazing strains. Our journey with Epic Buzz by Anesia Seeds, which began with germination on the 20th of January, has quickly progressed to an exciting stage. Just three days into the seedling phase, which started on the 21st of January, the seedlings are already showing promising signs of vigorous growth and health.
Each seedling, displaying a lush green hue, stands uniformly in both color and height, indicating a healthy and robust start. Their growth over the past three days has been remarkable, reaching heights between 5.5 and 6.5 cm. This growth spurt is a clear indication of their strong developmental potential.
The transition to their next stage of growth was marked by a careful transplantation process. As soon as the first tap roots appeared at the bottom of the easy plugs, we moved them to 1-liter airpots. During this process, we treated the easy plugs with Great White, aiding in their root development. The airpots were prepared with Biobizz Light Mix, providing them with the necessary initial moisture. Since then, we've refrained from additional watering to let them settle into their new environment.
Lighting has been a key focus in their care. We've set the light intensity to a gentle 15-20%, which translates to about 150 PPFD. This level ensures that they receive enough light for growth without being overwhelmed, which is crucial at their current seedling stage.
In other exciting developments, the Tent X Controller has arrived. Although it's not yet in the same tent as our Epic Buzz seedlings, its presence is a significant addition to our setup. We've shared an unboxing video to showcase its features and setup process. The controller is now operational, tracking data efficiently. Its performance has been flawless, and any queries we've had have been promptly addressed by an incredibly responsive and helpful support team.
As we look forward, our focus remains on the seedlings as they continue to establish themselves in their new environment. The Tent X Controller, set up in a different location for now, signifies an upgrade in our overall growing setup. We will continue to closely monitor their progress, making adjustments as necessary to ensure they receive the best possible care. We're also eagerly anticipating integrating the Tent X Controller into their environment in the future.

As we delve into the second week of observing the growth of our Epic Buzz plants, it's exciting to share their progress and the adjustments we've made to optimize their environment.
Current Growth Stage: Seedling stage, initiated on 21.01.23
Overall Plant Appearance: The Epic Buzz seedlings continue to thrive, showcasing a vibrant and uniform lush green appearance. Their overall health and vitality are evident, maintaining a robust and strong stature.
Growth and Stretch: Over the past week, our Epic Buzz plants have experienced impressive growth, now reaching between 10 and 12 cm in height. This steady progress is indicative of their positive response to their environment.
Nutrient Management: While we planned to introduce a mild nutrient solution this week, we've decided to postpone it until the following week. This delay aligns with our cautious approach to ensure optimal conditions for the seedlings before initiating nutrient supplementation.
Watering Schedule: The seedlings were watered with RO water enriched with Orca and Rhizotonic, using a spray bottle. This gentle watering approach ensures they receive the necessary moisture without over-saturation.
Light Settings: The light intensity has been adjusted to approximately 25-30%, providing an estimated 180 PPFD. This careful adjustment aligns with the increasing growth demands during this phase.
Tent Controller Effectiveness: The Tent X Controller, although not yet in the same tent as our Epic Buzz plants, has proven effective in maintaining optimal environmental conditions in the unoccupied tent. Its seamless integration contributes to the overall stability of temperature, humidity, and light settings.

We're in the third week of vegetative growth with our Epic Buzz plants by Anesia, and they are a sight to behold with their rich green leaves signaling strong health. The growth has been consistent, with new leaves unfurling and the central stem gaining girth, ready to support future flowering.
The root development, while not visible, is indicated by the stable and healthy growth above ground. Our watering schedule is on point, with the roots expected to be expanding in kind to support the lush foliage.
Feeding these plants has been a regimented process. We've been nurturing them with a mix of Orca, Rhizotonic, and pH-ed water, providing 100 ml of this concoction every three days. The plants are responding well, showing no signs of nutrient burn or deficiency, which is exactly what we want to see at this stage.
There have been no issues with pests or environmental stressors, which is a testament to the vigilant care they've been receiving. As we keep our environment stable, we'll continue to see such positive trends in their growth.
Looking ahead to the fourth week, we'll keep a close eye on how the plants are reacting to their nutrients. Week four of vegetation for our Epic Buzz by Anesia has been marked by remarkable progress and environmental optimization. The uniform growth has continued, with each plant reaching a robust 20 cm in their spacious 12.5-liter air-pots, signaling a very successful vegetative phase.
The integration of the heater and humidifier into the tent's system has been a game-changer, allowing for precise control of the growing conditions. The environmental graphs are showing admirable consistency in temperature and humidity, which is key to maintaining an ideal VPD level for the plants, ensuring optimal transpiration and nutrient uptake.
The Photone app indicates that the light intensity is within the ideal range for this stage, with readings of 150-180 PPFD. The lights, dialed down to 25%, along with the strategic use of IR lighting for 30 minutes at the transitions of the day, support the natural growth cycles of the plants. Concurrently, the UV lighting's midday cameo for 30 minutes is a masterful touch, potentially enhancing plant resilience and future resin production.
Once the connectivity issues are ironed out, the Mars Hydro inline fan will be operational, enhancing nighttime dehumidification, a critical aspect of maintaining plant health by preventing excess moisture and the issues it can bring. This will round out the environmental controls, making them as meticulous during the night as they are throughout the day.
The Epic Buzz plants are set to continue their vegetative journey in an almost perfectly controlled environment, thanks to the thoughtful and precise adjustments made around the garden. The latest photograph reveals a lush canopy of green, with plants exhibiting robust health following topping and defoliation. Remarkably, the plants have sailed through these interventions without displaying signs of stress, a testament to their resilience and our attentive cultivation practices.
Each Epic Buzz plant now boasts a minimum of six nodes, some even presenting with eight—a clear sign of their readiness for substantial vegetative expansion. The application of 1 liter of a well-formulated nutrient solution, composed of Alga Grow, Sugar Royal, Power Roots, and Orca, on a tri-weekly schedule, is ensuring these plants are not wanting for nourishment.
Turning to the Tent-X graphs, we observe a well-maintained VPD during the day, demonstrating that the controller is effectively managing the tent's climate to optimize plant transpiration and growth. However, the graphs also reveal a challenge with nighttime VPD management. The inability to maintain optimal VPD levels after lights off suggests the Smart Mars Hydro fan isn't adequately managing humidity levels during these crucial hours.
This night-time dip in VPD is a concern, as it can lead to a less efficient gas exchange and potentially create an environment conducive to unwanted pathogens. The urgency to connect the Mars Hydro fan to the Tent-X system is underscored by this data, as doing so will likely resolve the humidity management issue and maintain a consistent VPD, crucial for the plants' overnight health and vigor.
Aside from this, the daytime VPD control is commendable, with the Tent-X system keeping parameters within the target range, ensuring the plants' transpiration is at its peak efficiency for healthy growth.

Despite this improvement, the integration of the Mars Hydro fan with the Tent-X system remains unresolved, leading to less than ideal fluctuations in our VPD levels. The lack of support from Mars Hydro, Secret Jardin, and even TrolMaster in providing clear guidance for this integration has been a stumbling block. We're considering a shift back to the reliable Prima Clima system, known for its seamless compatibility and ease of use.
