Still some issues with black flies as they keep coming back despite of the nematodes. I'll treat the soil with nematodes again this week. It doesn't look like it is affecting the plants anymore but I don't want them ending up in my stash π. The plants are looking very strong and healthy, growing even faster than last week. Still not sure at this point if I want to do LST or just let them grow. According to the strain info this ladies can grow up to 135cm inside so it's probably a good idea to do LST at some point. I'm also cutting back on the Alga Grow this week to prevent excess nitrogen in the blooming stage.
ItΒ΄s not only about sticking-traps . You need to eliminate all the larvae , cause they are the problem . Just use some nematodes , itΒ΄ll work quickly and safe ! Good luck , Growmie
@Zengrower, welcome , buddy !! Yeah , i tried mites just once , as i found nematodes to be the terminal solution ππππ . And yeah , most times itΒ΄s much more than expected . The yellow stick-traps are mostly for controll of infestation and also to catch the adult gnats ( black fungus gnats / bot. Sciara analis) , but dem larvae are (imo) only really affected by nematodes (you could also use Bacillus thuringiensis israelensis , but more as prevention) . So if you have many adul gnats , there are a bunch more larvae . Also you should watch your watering , as too humid substrate will get all those gnats round you attracted π³
Edit : those yellow stick-traps loock quite full π if you calculate 1 female gnat will lay up to 200 eggs , you might get a clue of how many of the larvea are feasting on your plantΒ΄s roots (as the larvae normally eat fungi (those fungi helping your plant to live , and as there are not many of those fungi in a pot , as you can imagine , theyΒ΄ll switch to roots )π»
