Howdy all and welcome to Week 3, Veg w/ GDPxBruce. Things went pretty decent this week. The deets: The Good: -Happy to say things are seemingly on the up and up after a disastrous start. The comparison photo's above show just how far they've come, when for the first two weeks they did little to nothing. -New growth is looking far better then semi-damaged old growth. Great texture, color and health. -Running 1.11kPA to 1.20kPA and it is proving to be a relatively sweet spot for all the girls. They pray everyday, without signs of drooping, heat/light stress or wind burn. I keep my range withing 60-70% and 75-80 degree Fahrenheit. -Rooting very well during the recovery. Main stem and lateral branching is firm and holding well. I credit my first feed concoction/soil amendment for this. The Bad: -No bad folks. They're more then alive and thriving. Thumbs up👍 The 'Meh': -Noticed that all 3 of 4 girls were growing new sets but with only three blades a piece. I did some reading and heard it can be genetics or stress that may lead to sets with less blades. Well, it's not genetic cause there's three of them, so I'm assuming the early stress and recovery has led to less then optimal growth on those sets. Good news, all new sets are 5 blades and should be up and fanned out as early as tomorrow morning👌. -Night time temp and humidity is a problem. RH spikes and temp drops right off. Ceramic heater is too hammy, heat mat too weak. De-humidifier sucks (Not moisture! HA!) and I'm stuck trying to find a permanent solution. Most everything I'm doing is manual and I do it everyday😕. Would be nice just to let her go, all sealed up, without my intervention. I'm sure I'll get there... -I over watered again... Someone please take the syringe away from me. I can't stop myself! Damn, man😟 Notes of the Week: -I'm crediting a few things for the expedited recovery of these girls, all of which (except Gaia Green Bone Meal) were applied in their first feed on Tuesday, April 21st. Bone meal for slow release phosphorous to bring back fried roots and mitigate soil pH. Potassium Silicate to help strengthen above ground growth, foliar health and later branching health. Used Hygrozyme for the first time. A cleaning agent for the soil in order to mitigate pH swings and control any bad bacteria building or spreading withing the medium (Two applications now. I love this stuff. Smells god awful though....). And finally, the old school 'Stim Root #1' for softwood applications, really kicked up the root growth into new soil. Insta-tap. I recommend Stim root to everyone, actually. Extremely cheap, bare bones rooting hormone that's older then 95% of us. I mentioned this in my second grow, but this is the same hormone my Papa used 50 years ago to sow his apple tree saplings into new soil. Very old and reliable product. -Considering just giving away the remainder of my GHE supply and just move direct to an all Green Planet run. IDK. I don't want to mix things up too much and it might just be better to give the remainder to my buddy who is growing with GHE. -Feel like I'm pushing the recovery a little too much and I'm going to pull back a bit. Nothings wrong, but I can see where things will go if I keep asserting my will over them, instead of just letting them get there on their own...which they will. Boredom's a killer and the girls are paying the price. Anywho, thanks for stopping by and checking her out. Lost some time folks, but this one is going the distance. No scraps, just healthy girls I hope to bring to end game. Have a great week, all ya'll. Take care of yourselves and your loved ones. Cheers and much love😉👊

@JinksyGrows, I am also considering buying a small Electric Hoist to raise and lower the units too and use "yo-yo hangers" on each corner to keep from the units from spinning. Might sound excessive, but having the ability to quickly and easily raise and lower the lights would be well worth the investment. I have been eyeing one with 110lb capacity and it only weighs a little over 12lbs. Anyhow, if you have questions or if I can help in anyway, please let me know. Happy growing!

Oveerwatering Issues=?. I feel you- To me the watering Regime is the hardest one to learn in indoor growing. It took me a good number of grows. I ended in watering daily, and smaller amounts. and Always to look for the plant before i water^^. If you have tiny plants, use tiny buckets to water them. ( a small glass )etc. You may take longer, but you cant overdo it. Or take a small plasticbottle and do some markings onto the bottle. so you see how much you want to give to one plant. and can Control how much they already got.

@Mrs_Larimar, got that right. I have no issues watering of established plants but seedlings in final pots are a bitch.

@Mrs_Larimar, This is exactly what I've started to do as of yesterday, haha. I can't be trusted with the 100mL syringe, so I'm back to bottle feeds. Going waaay better, haha. Thanks👍. I'll stop drowning them😅

Man how did we experience the exact same thing at the same time!? Reading the comments I’m so glad to hear they’re bouncing back!! I just had 5 nodes when I overwatered and had 0 growth for 7 days and lost the 3 lower nodes on all my girls. Since reporting in fabric pots they’ve bounced back and are growing as good as ever! Can’t wait to see how yours bounce back man, good luck!!

JinksyGrowscommented5 years ago
@ButtersStotch, Funny eh? Haha. Well, not a that funny, but crap does happen. And we're in the same boat, but it a good way this time🙂. I moved mine to 3 gallon fabrics too and they're moving surprisingly really well now. Woot! Congrats on the recovery man. Onwards 😀👍

Thanks!* ==================== Alibaba is like the Chinese Version Of Amazon https://www.alibaba.com/ they have some of the best prices on lights - you can get lights of better quality at much less than you would pay locally I was going to buy a spider farmer for my 4x4 but went instead with this light and can not be any happier. @Mrs_Larimar, That's a good point. I was looking at last week's pictures and trich development and she is moving very quick. The purple and fade only started 4 days ago too and that's going really fast. May have to cut down sooner, but I'll let her tell me😉. Just keeping a real close eye on them now.

Good to know about the benefit of ticking analog as nice programable digital. Come to think of it, these household timers, are usually design for fence light or even night light. They are not rated for the wattage for grow room at all.
JinksyGrows
JinksyGrowscommented5 years ago
@Med_in_Tropic, You've got it, 100%. Residential timers being used for commercial lighting. Danger😮. With LED, the wattage is nice and constant without a spike👍. Thanks for reading man!

Out of curiosity, what was your starting soil?
JinksyGrows
JinksyGrowscommented5 years ago
@Huggomadd,No doubt man. I learned a big lesson from this, and maybe it was necessary (?). I was taking people's word at face value, but they could have literally know nothing in the first place. I test everything now, lol! And only buy mediums that the seller has proof of using and/or testing before use👍. Live and learn! But this one hurt. Oof.
Huggomadd
Huggomaddcommented5 years ago
@JinksyGrows, The standard should be that garden centers/shops stand behind their products because they've tried them out previously themselves. Like tried and true. Hard to say; "Yeah this product works great and gives you a huge/great harvest. You should pay the $ and try it." When they truly haven't got a clue about the product.
JinksyGrows
JinksyGrowscommented5 years ago
@Ga4rd2en0er, Non name brand, locally sourced soil, sold at a gardening greenhouse, not a hydro shop. I've had words with the greenhouse already... Haha. Not happy, and told them to pull the product, less they have another 40 of me coming to crap on them. I asked if they ever test their substrates before selling them, too. They said no... So, won't ever trust them again. Edit 1: The soil was sold to me as 5.5pH seeding soil, btw. Higher N to PK volume. Should be standard stuff... Not sure how or where it got turned sour. Edit 2: And things are looking good, right now. I will not be kiboshing the project 👍. Lost time, but they're moving very well, now, in their new home

@HazeyBobby, I sure hope so🙂. Did a bunch of LST on 3 of 4 today and really starting to see exponential, daily growth. Slow and steady wins the race, but fast vegging plants is a beauty sight👌☺️
