Hello all and welcome to the final Week of Veg with Granddaddy Bruce. The flips a coming! The Deets (Last section is comparison b/t Grow #2 vs Grow #3):
The Good:
-Happy, happy, happy plant. She has been in great shape and form this week, praying nicely to the light for about 4 days in a row now. She's firm, strong, healthy, pistils showing and she's ready to go.
-A little more training gave me a decent bubble to work with in Bloom. She was a very good plant to train. Never an issue, always receptive and no attitude.
-Pretty heavy defo and under-canopy clean up (After feeding) went very well. No signs of stress noticed. Growth picked up exponentially after this defo and prune👍
The Bad:
-Nope. All good. Wait no (this is happening while I type here😠). Hydro company is playing with the power and have CUT my power 4 times, just today, for about 30 seconds to three minutes. Really bad timing fellas. Considering a UPS or emergency light just to keep light on them. Seems like a lot or effort though🤔
The 'Meh'
-Just the slightest 'meh', and I'll leave it at that. She's still hungry and I see that she's asking for more Nitrogen. Still catching up from the recent starvation. Nothing's amiss, just clear that she is indeed in need of some more food. Extremely fast growing and eating plant, atm (and probably from here on out). She takes about 1.75 liters a day right now, which is more then I expected. The second transitions feed will replace and give her a boost. Details on schedules for all plants in "Notes of the Week".
Notes of the Week:
-Yah, so it's time for the flip! Plant health, ppm's and pH are in check. There's no more room and it's time to go.
-Besides Space Cookies (whom is propped on a 6" pot) the canopy of the girls is even and will hopefully grow evenly (somewhat) throughout flower. I see that PSK and DD will be getting very big, but I'm a little more comfortable with this, as I have trained lower and given myself a lot more buffer space b/t my light and my canopy (about 24 " of stretch space, where the tallest plant sits at around 17-18"). A 100% stretch would still work out fine with the current height of the girls and I'm really happy I started my LST earlier to achieve a shorter (but still wide) plant. They're monsters and only stand at 11-17 inches. Neat!👌
-All plants have had one "transitions" feeding before the flip and will receive their second, two days from today. Will apply a third if needed, but I'm pretty positive I can jump into my Bloom schedule sooner then later.
-PK booster (King Kola) was not used exactly as needed in Grow #2 but will be used to it's full extent in this go. This will give me the full scope of the product and what/how it does. I know it works, but to what extent.
-Only nervous about PSK. She has had the hardest time so far, and Veg was a battle. Her health is there and she looks decent (only decent for the moment). I'm not really sure what will happen, if anything, when I flip them tonight, May 31st. Staying positive and hope she transitions into flower well.
**Quick Changes B/T Grow #2 and #3**
-LST started earlier to keep the girls shorter. Triggered at 24" in Grow #2 and this made things very stressful. I ran out of room and they stopped just in time before getting burned. I did NOT want to put myself in this position again, and this is the result👌.
-Aforementioned trigger at 24" is now being triggered at 11-17", leaving about 24-30" of play room for the coming stretch.
-Plants are firmer then grow #2. Potassium Silicate (Sturdy Stalk) was used properly and throughout Vegetation, where in Grow #2, I started late (about week 8-9). Applying once every 3rd feeding has proven to shore up the girls stems and laterals much better then previous attempts. Releasing my training tyes does not result in any movement.
-Size/Circumference of the girls in Grow #2 are about the same as Grow #3, but this took roughly 5-9 days less vegetation to achieve, even with allllll the mistakes and problems in early Veg. Attributing earlier training and the SF-2000 for this expedited growth. I know 5-9 days is isn't much at all, but cutting time out slowly with each grow is working quite well. Grow #1 took roughly 11 weeks of Veg (That diary does not have all weeks included and I compiled two, two week segments into one entry. This Veg did indeed take 11 weeks), Grow #2 took 8-9 weeks and this grow is down to 7-8 weeks. Slowly becoming more efficient and speeding things up a bit. Very happy to see these small changes as I would like to achieve 3 cycles/harvests a year. 20-22 weeks is far too long and the goal in this grow and the ones that follow it, is too bump this number down to a solid 16 week grow. Ideally 6-7 weeks Veg and 8-10 weeks Bloom.
-Using a slightly more advanced feeding schedule this round seems to have kicked them in the butt a bit (but I did face consequences trying to find the limit...beware). Next grow I feel I'll have a better handle on when and what to feed the girls at specific times to encourage faster, healthier growth.
Thanks for stopping by all! These are the last pictures before the lights turn off tonight for a 9pm-9am night cycle. I'm excited! Same plants but feels like a new adventure again. Cheers to you all and I hope you have a great week. STAY SAFE, HOLY CRAP! As parts of the world dip into chaos, please, PLEASE remember to love and take care of yourselves and loved ones. Stay healthy, content and peaceful my friends. I'm thinking of you all, seriously. 🙏✊
@JinksyGrows, I am also considering buying a small Electric Hoist to raise and lower the units too and use "yo-yo hangers" on each corner to keep from the units from spinning. Might sound excessive, but having the ability to quickly and easily raise and lower the lights would be well worth the investment. I have been eyeing one with 110lb capacity and it only weighs a little over 12lbs. Anyhow, if you have questions or if I can help in anyway, please let me know. Happy growing!
Oveerwatering Issues=?. I feel you- To me the watering Regime is the hardest one to learn in indoor growing. It took me a good number of grows.
I ended in watering daily, and smaller amounts. and Always to look for the plant before i water^^.
If you have tiny plants, use tiny buckets to water them. ( a small glass )etc. You may take longer, but you cant overdo it.
Or take a small plasticbottle and do some markings onto the bottle. so you see how much you want to give to one plant. and can Control how much they already got.
@Mrs_Larimar, This is exactly what I've started to do as of yesterday, haha. I can't be trusted with the 100mL syringe, so I'm back to bottle feeds. Going waaay better, haha.
Thanks👍. I'll stop drowning them😅
Man how did we experience the exact same thing at the same time!? Reading the comments I’m so glad to hear they’re bouncing back!! I just had 5 nodes when I overwatered and had 0 growth for 7 days and lost the 3 lower nodes on all my girls. Since reporting in fabric pots they’ve bounced back and are growing as good as ever! Can’t wait to see how yours bounce back man, good luck!!
@ButtersStotch, Funny eh? Haha. Well, not a that funny, but crap does happen. And we're in the same boat, but it a good way this time🙂. I moved mine to 3 gallon fabrics too and they're moving surprisingly really well now. Woot! Congrats on the recovery man. Onwards 😀👍

Alibaba is like the Chinese Version Of Amazon https://www.alibaba.com/ they have some of the best prices on lights - you can get lights of better quality at much less than you would pay locally
I was going to buy a spider farmer for my 4x4 but went instead with this light and can not be any happier.

🙌🙌👏Please Check Out My Newest Diary's🙌🙌👏
@MrJones, I did ask😀 and thank you for the response👍. I've been on alibaba before, but you're correct. I should hop over there and check specs and options before buying a name! Cheers Jones, I'm on the hunt👌
oha,,,, that was really short ( for you)😜
most time if i say .. well theywill need 10-12 Days... they are suddenly done 5 Days later... my Plants tend to change from clear to milky,,,"overnight"
@Mrs_Larimar, That's a good point. I was looking at last week's pictures and trich development and she is moving very quick. The purple and fade only started 4 days ago too and that's going really fast. May have to cut down sooner, but I'll let her tell me😉. Just keeping a real close eye on them now.
@Med_in_Tropic, Still a little bit to go, but I feel we're close👌. Not dead or crispy! I have faith🙂. Moved forward with my test feed on DD and we shall see how this goes. Been 8 hrs and she's perked right up ... I'll take what I can get! Haha. So far so good.
Thanks med!
Good to know about the benefit of ticking analog as nice programable digital. Come to think of it, these household timers, are usually design for fence light or even night light. They are not rated for the wattage for grow room at all.
@Med_in_Tropic, You've got it, 100%. Residential timers being used for commercial lighting. Danger😮. With LED, the wattage is nice and constant without a spike👍. Thanks for reading man!
@Huggomadd,No doubt man. I learned a big lesson from this, and maybe it was necessary (?). I was taking people's word at face value, but they could have literally know nothing in the first place.
I test everything now, lol! And only buy mediums that the seller has proof of using and/or testing before use👍.
Live and learn! But this one hurt. Oof.
@JinksyGrows,
The standard should be that garden centers/shops stand behind their products because they've tried them out previously themselves. Like tried and true. Hard to say; "Yeah this product works great and gives you a huge/great harvest. You should pay the $ and try it." When they truly haven't got a clue about the product.
@Ga4rd2en0er, Non name brand, locally sourced soil, sold at a gardening greenhouse, not a hydro shop. I've had words with the greenhouse already... Haha. Not happy, and told them to pull the product, less they have another 40 of me coming to crap on them. I asked if they ever test their substrates before selling them, too. They said no... So, won't ever trust them again.
Edit 1: The soil was sold to me as 5.5pH seeding soil, btw. Higher N to PK volume. Should be standard stuff... Not sure how or where it got turned sour.
Edit 2: And things are looking good, right now. I will not be kiboshing the project 👍. Lost time, but they're moving very well, now, in their new home
Well that is a beautifully growing plant - stunning leaves and very healthy looking. Nice job mate 👌
A few more weeks and it will be hard for you to find your way inside that space :)
@HazeyBobby, I sure hope so🙂. Did a bunch of LST on 3 of 4 today and really starting to see exponential, daily growth. Slow and steady wins the race, but fast vegging plants is a beauty sight👌☺️
@Buddha2, Thanks Buddah! Going to take a page out of your book and keep it simple this time around👌. Let them go a little more natural 😊
Cheers and happy grows this week!
