Hi first time indoor here and I'm really excited to get the ladies going. As its my first time im expecting a few mistakes and I already feel like I'm doing things a little more quickly than I'd like. By day 3 after breaking earth I found I had the propogator open and the lights at 100% at 24" which I planned on easing into over the 1st 2 weeks so patience is probably going to be my biggest obstacle. All around though the ladies seems happy, I'm watching for light burn and watering lightly roughly every 36 hours. Bill cherington looks like she may have a slight leaf mutation but I'm not too worried about it yet. The tents are set up in the garage in the winter so I've set up small heater in the tents with humidifiers. Were sitting at 76 degrees and 65% RH. With the fans running at 25% so hopefully that will keep the girls happy. Im using promix with perlite and will be using GH flora notes with cal-mag. I plan on introducing cal-mag at 2ml/G starting off week 2 and by week 3 ill start adding in the flora series at 25% recommended dose. Can't wait to see how they're looking next week

So I start this off by saying remember how during germination when I said patience was going to be my main obstacle, boy did that show up this week, on the note let's get into the what I did/ what not to do list. Firstly is rushed purchasing, I did not research a few of the things I bought and it ended up hurting me quickly. The cheap PH pen I bought off amazon broke in the first 20 seconds of unboxing it, it's true you get what you pay for and to add to that shortly after my cheap fan stopped oscillating so oscillation is not a thing that happens in my tent any longer. The biggest failure of researched was achieved when I discover my growing medium WASN'T soil, as many of you know Pro-mix HP w/ mycorrhiza is a soilless mix which function similar to coco. This short sight caused me to ph @ 6.5 rather than the 5.8-6.1ph recommended. Lastly the cardboard "biodegradable" containers they're in are just terrible for my setup. With the girls sitting at ground level the heating pad and ceramic heater I used to keep temps up we're drying out the carboard acting as a wick and sucking out all the moisture from my medium daily. I'm sure this caused heat and stress on the roots and contributed to the sad looking droopy state of my girls and contributed to the stunted growth I witnessed. The next bout of impatience caused me to remove the lid of the propagator and turn my lights to 100% @ 24" this was a mistake as I hadn't tested the conditions of my tent prior to this. I had a very hard time balancing the inline fan speed and humidifier to achieve ideal humidity. It visually stressed out my plants, my solution: FEED THEM!!!!! the knee jerk reaction of the newbie variety. This of course did not help but likely resulted in the burned leaf you see on Dennis' left arm, poor Dennis. Okay so it's around day 11 since they popped out of the soil the girls looked as sad and droopy as the queen in a bikini. How do I diagnose what's going wrong??? Well I did what any sane person would do and consulted the community. I raised my lights up to 36" and dimmed them to 50%. I removed the heating pad and elevated the plants so the heater was no sucking the girls dry. I lowered my fan power and raised my humidity finding somewhat of a consistent balance in the tent conditions. I popped the propagator lid back on for 24hrs and when I looked the next morning they appeared to have a second lease on life. Their leaves are mostly praying back up aside from the first set but I'll give them a little more time. As soon as I can confirm the girls are out of the woods, hopefully tomorrow (a touch of impatience) I want to cut them out of the cardboard and get them into their 3G fabric pots. Concluding week #1 I will admit after watching dozens of hours of YouTube videos, hundreds of journals I thought I was going to strut into growing like Hulk Hogan walking into the ring. What I learned was you can't experience everything in a 20 minute YouTube video and experience is more valuable than anything. I'm behind a few days due to all the issues but am really excited to continue sailing this curiosity voyage. Thanks to the community for being my paddles!

Your right. Experience is a valuable teacher.. Also trying new things to valuable but there is also value in letting plants grow.. I think your thoughts about the early feeding are indeed why Dennis has experienced such a downturn.. Cannabis plants use 99% of the water they intake for transpiration.. The other 1% combined with nutrients plus sunlight is what does the actual growing. A key word here is 99% of water is used for transpiration. Plants use a lot more water then nutrients.. I shy away from humidity domes with seedlings because 99% of the time a seedling should be able to intake all the water she needs from the root zone...Doming is for clones period. Sunlight and water bro.. Nutrients are all just various types of salts and sugars and mostly water anyway :) .

So my bottom leaves have gone completely pale but my new growth looks pretty good. They were transplanted yesterday but the leaves were already a light lime. Any idea why the first set of true leaves are this different. Promix hp/6.2ph in. Runoff 6.5. 1 25% str light feed done

If your pH is coming out higher in the runoff, it usually means you can increase your nutes a little bit. With that in mind, the first true leave probably yellowed due to nitrogen deficiency. No worries, first true leaves aren't very hardy anyway

I found this is my basement of our new house and I'm wondering if this is an RO filtration system and if its worth trying to reconnect it as it appears to be bypassed. It does have an electric water softener which I heard you shouldn't use but I'm curious what it is in any case.

hei bro i wasted some time studying these damn filters ... i think it is an ion exchange resin and / or cationic the reverse osmosis brings the conduction of water to ~ 0 ~ 40 uscm ... i I am satisfied with an everpure filter .. used by Coca-Cola Company and usa army .... microfiltration and some resins brings my ex from 600 uscm to 250... something is needed in the water ... Cal Mag if you don't have to add it ... deprives and tests the electrical conductivity of the water ..... maybe they are used and full of harmful substances

Well week 2 was an interesting one, things started off a mess and got worse but by day 21 on Christmas eve I think we've gotten these girls back on the right track. Day 14 our girls were looking a little sad, they'd been drinking nothing but water since the first feed but are looking a little sad for their age. I couldn't help but feel something was off but I couldn't put my finger on why. The tent conditions were solid, steady 76F & 65-70% RH. Lights still @ 50% hung @ 30". The Promix HP was feeling hard and clumpy between waters so I decided it was time to transplant, the cardboard containers have been extremely annoying drying out way too quickly. As I transplanted I didn't see a good root ball, only the odd root sticking through some of the cube even crumbled away as I moved them but I got them into the 3G fabric pots in any case. With them in their new homes the lower growth was looking a lime green colour so I decided to give them a light feed, 1/4 gallon of 280ppm flora trio very weak batch less than 1/4 strength. Day 15: The new growth looks to be getting a little pale at the tips and the lower growth is looking worse, the girls are still small for their age but I decided to give it another day. Day 16: The Bottom leaves are nearly completely colourless and I still dont like what I'm seeing at the tips of the growth above it. The slow growth continues. Day 17: The trend continues Day 18: No change, no growth I know something is up. I researched a bit and saw it looked like a nitrogen & calcium deficiency... but why? I just fed these girls 3 days ago they should be happy and green. I look to the medium I've never used promix hp before but my gut is telling me my problem lies in there. I decided to go with a stronger feed at around 468ppm @ 6.1 PH with some rapid start. I wanted to test the runoff and see what was going on in there. The runoff of the first plant was showing 6.5PH & 2480 PPM!!! I was shocked. How did this happen? I've only fed that medium once @ 280PPM. I Flushed them all with unPH'd water until I got the runoff below 200PPM (roughly 9 Gallons) and then fed them. Back to the tent and hope we see some improvement. Day 19: What a difference, I had more growth in a night then I've seen since they popped the soil. New growth forming looks great maybe we've righted the ship! Day 20: The upward trend continues I delighted to say. unfortunately the first leaves don't look like they'll be making a comeback. I'm also seeing a little twisting on the the leaf tips of Bill. Looks Like it might be slight nute burn from the transplant feed. I'll monitor and if it continues scale thing down a bit. Day 21: The difference 3 days can make is truly astounding. It's Christmas eve and I've got the Christmas miracle I was hoping for. Also I found something interesting in the basement of my new home, it looks like a really nice RO system that's currently bypassed. I'm going to try changing the filters and getting this thing running for the girls. I decided to keep Shy Di and King Bob in my other tent for a couple weeks purely for experimental purposes. They remain unflushed, untransplanted and mostly just watered. you'll notice there has been literally no growth at all. They dont have a good root ball just nothing good going on there but they will be my lab rats. I currently can only grow 4 plants until my license is approved so I might as well plaay with them until they hit the compost. Also I still can't explain the high PPM runoff, I took a picture of the bucket of runoff water and you'll see its a pretty syrupy brown. Aside from day of transplant I've always watered to 20% runoff. I decided to make a slurry with some ProMix out of the bag. Water in was 189PPM, Slurry was 479PPM. I don't know exactly what this means for the future but I will be keeping a closer eye on my runoff as we move forward.

Do you have mold/mildew or some kind of fungus you need to deal with? A good organic fungicide and pesticide you can use is neem oil (according to recommended amounts) mixed with baking soda (1 teaspoon/liter) in tomato leaf water (or water with tomato leaf extract) the neem oil is a good fungicide and pesticide, the baking soda is very effective against fungi, and the tomato leaf water are excellent against leaf munching pests. As for the plant in the picture if you're saying that the diet was different with more potassium than what is mentioned then try checking the pH level of the runoff as well as the irrigation to make sure the soil is in good condition not just the water. If the pH is fine then the next option is Calcium Toxicity which inhibits Potassium uptake - from the looks of your plant it is very unlikely but still possible, to deal with that try lowering your "Micro" dosage by half. Hope this helps! Good luck and happy growing :)

Okay so the problems with the black spots continue only on one plant. I tried reducing nitrogen and increased calmag to 4ml/g. I defoliated the affected leaves and sprayed with baking soda mix. 3 days later they're appearing again. If I don't get this fixed soon im gonna lose her

I had something similar and i found deficiency information to lead me in the direction of phosphorus deficiency. Also to be safe make sure your ph is good and roots are healthy....roots problems can mimic many conditions....good luck.

Starting off the week I ran into nitrogen toxicity in Fred. It was pretty minor so the plan was just to cut back the nutes from 50% to 30%. Also Dennis is still having issues with the black spots spreading across lower growth. I suspect phosphorus deficiency due to high ph. Lowered the ph across the board to 5.7 for the mid-week feed and it appears to have stopped the spread. However Fred's nitrogen toxicity appears to be getting worse. I will flush it out start week 5 and scale nutes to 25% for the next feed. Not much else to note, continued lst and removing some of the lower growth too close to the dirt. Nodes are stacked really tight, almost too tight. I would have liked a little more room to work with so for my next grow I want to raise lights much higher during the first 2-3 weeks to encourage a bit more vertical growth. Anyways girls are happy for now, I'm starting to collect parts to build my diy rdwc system.ill post some pics when I start slapping her together

This week was pretty straight forward. More defoliation more LST. Took 4 cuts from Fred the white widow as ots been the best performer and started tent 2 up. Still seeing the blotches forming on Denis leaves. I know its get enough nutes but it sure does look like a phosphorus def. Im thinking about cutting out her calmag and seeing if the helps because it seems to increase every time I feed her. Could be the calmag locking out the phosphorus but I'm not certain.

Hi guys we made it through week 6 and things are moving along nicely. I gotta say that Bill James and king Bob, my 24k gold have been beyond easy. They've not had any nute problems at all and have been tight bushy and just a joy to grow. On the other side of things the white widow which id thought would be the easiest have been challenging to get stable. Fred has had nitrogen swings from deficient to toxic between 25%-50% nute strength. I think we have Fred dialed in now and its by far the biggest and most impressive looking of the gang now. Dennis has had black splotches have which I'm pretty sure now is phosphorus deficiency in vegetative. I've cut off all affected leaves doubled the bloom and cut out the calmag on her. I phd her to 6.2 this feed and runoff read 6.0 so I think rootzone was sitting at around 5.8. Now I researched the proper ph for phosphorus absorption in soiless and hydroponic and this seems to be well within range and to add to that all other plants have been fine and she's been doing it since she sprouted. I thought perhaps root problems but the new growth and the majority of the plant look great so its been pretty frustrating. Im hoping this latest feed will sort her out... praying even. If anyone has any alternative diagnosis or suggestions I'd love to hear it. Ps ninja return of king Bob up front incase u didn't notice lol. The canpoy is starting to come together, they all got a mini lollipop more lst and defoliation. Im thinking 1 more week of veg and then flip and scrog, very exciting!

Hello again, this week we kept onto of our LST and gave the ladies a good lollipop and defoliation and flipped them mid week. Slapped the scrog net in there but its looking a little small. I got a 3x3 for my 3.5x3.5 tent and thought it'd be fine lol. I gotta ask how they'll you guys water the ones in the back under then nets im going to have to limber up before every feed. Picked up a small dehumidifier off Amazon that I'm relatively unsatisfied with but rh is sitting around 52% for now. I've got a beast dehumidifier on standby but with the addition of king Bob in the tent thats practically no wiggle room. Now for the elephant in tent... im ready to give up on Dennis. Whatever is killing the leaves is driving me mad. I've tried cutting the calmag, adding more calmag upping the phosphorus baking soda spray and yelling at it but its all been ineffective. The ph is in correct ranges runoff around 6.1. I've tried going 6.5 I've tried going 5.7 no difference. Im looking for anyone that may have experienced this and has found a solution to save Dennis.

This week was a tough one, where to begin.. Day 4:, everything looked great the girls were stretching buds starting to form on the 24k golds. Day 5: more of the same gave them a good feed and raised the lights. Lowered the netting and started to scrog out fred, by far being the tallest. Day 6: Let the ladies chill and grow Day 7: minor defoliation, opening up those bud sites. Day 8: Busy at the office and couldn't make it back before lights out... I didn't even get to read them a bedtime story... How will they grow big and strong without their green eggs & ham. Day 9: Lights on couldn't wait to see these girls, unzip the zipper and it slaps me in the face.... not the pleasant aroma, but the sight of dozens of pollen sacks all over Fred. It's like a reallllllly bad friday night out. We wine'd her, we dine'd her and she's a he. I feel dirty all over. Then before I could recover from the first blow the combination punch strikes me harder knocking me to the floor... all the clones.... the second tent... the ones I was about to transplant.... THEYRE ALL FROM FRED!!! I suppose this is what I get for naming my plants after dudes... I tossed the clones in the waste bag, put the females in the other tent carefully removed Fred, leading him to the side of the house where we parted ways not unlike the boy and ol' yeller & into the compost bag with it's children. Bleached and thoroughly cleaned the tent & all the equipment and put them back in praying that in 7 days they're not on MTV's "Day 16 & pregnant" So naturally I contacted crop king seeds and spoke with a nice customer service person named Lisa. She was very understanding to the fact the I was at the moment very upset & disappointed. What's the best way to cheer a person up I ask you? Free stuff! Crop King will be sending me over some Gelato fems and some of their branded seeds "Crown Royale". I'm really excited to try both of them, expect a new journal as soon as I get my hands on them. Thanks Crop King! So onto day 10: I've licked my wounds, enjoyed some smoke and it's back to the garden. Another good feed & minor defoliation. I'm actually kind of enjoying the extra space I have in the tent with fred sitting in a paper bag outside. Good news about this week is, with some help from the good folks over at happy hydroponics I may have found a solution for Dennis' phosphorus issues. They set me up with some "RAW" microbes and beneficial bacterial to help break things down a little better in the medium, in addition to cutting out the cal-mag we'll hopefully start to see some improvements. That's it for me guys, happy growing!

Another week down absolutely no problems stress free week, alrighty then, bye bye now..... okay fine who am I kidding there's no such thing as an easy week in this journal so let's just get into it. Started of the week well enough buds sites forming Dennis is a little behind but thats just Dennis. The problem child of the group was given a flush with nutrients at the start of the week. The black spotting and leaf necrosis has slowed significantly. Looks like just one or two leaves affected. Maybe the microbes and removal or calmag are starting to balance things out. Im still not 100% on what the cause is... if its ph, lockout, calmag, phosphorus def, problems with my water or something else. Maybe Dennis just likes to watch me stress out and run 3000 google searches on what it could be.. honestly thats probably it. Mid week I got caught sleeping on the job and the tent wilted from underwatering, I caught this about 10 minutes before lights out when I returned from work. I've never mixed a batch of feed so quickly, it was like what I'd imagine being a chef for Gordon Ramsey feels like. I usually ph to 5.9-6.1 but I've been watching some bill ward vids on youtube who suggests 5.7 so we gave it a try. No time to make the ol' calmag free batch for Dennis, just eat your calmag and go the f to sleep. Now this morning 10 minutes before I typed this I've found black necrosis spots on over a dozen leaves. Even some on on another plants. One plant had some nitrogen def showing in the lower leaves even with the feed being yesterday which is baffling. Its gotta be the ph. The promix hp could have drifted to a nono spot in ph im not sure. Open to advice and suggestions...anything.. I need to right the ship and fast. The only other thing it could be is the lack of a male presence has left then tent and the females are depressed. I've added an important male figure back into the tent in hopes of raising overall morale. Hope it works

Hey guys! The start of this week was basically a dumpster fire. rookie mistakes were made and most of the growing occurred outside the tent as I tried to figure this mess out. So Dennis has been messing with me since the beginning of this grow. The relationship would be best compared to Bam Margera and his dad Phil, just beating me down while I'm wondering where I went wrong. I couldn't understand the phosphorus/potassium def I was seeing in early veg, thought it might be a fungus, bugs, under feeding, cal-mag issues a witch's curse or gnomes I just wasn't sure. The only thing I had going right was it wasn't affecting the 24k golds in the tent. Just before the start of this week that all changed. I was having NP&K def across the board. No more time to hope it fixes itself I got right to it. I used some clearex solution and flushed them all out. PPM was 180, PPM out was 550 until it leveled out around 200PPM. The PH in the medium was 5.4 last I checked so to bring that up Clearex went in at 6.5 and came out around 6.2. Definitely had some salt build up even though I'm feeding to runoff. So moving forward I'm switching to a "Feed Feed Water" schedule. In addition I've found my home has an electronic water softener, I'm told this increases the salt content and can cause this sort of thing. I've got the RO hookup coming Tuesday, this hobby is getting a little pricey lol. At least I'm enjoying it, without all these problems I think I wouldn't mind lol. So we let them sit in just water/clearex for a day then fed them up tonight at 50% strength where I feel I'll stay the rest of the grow. I gotta say the buds are smelling great, very strong citrus with fruity backtone. They're all starting to pack on weight except Dennis... FU Dennis. Till next time happy growing!

Hey guys! Just a quick update this week. The 24k gold are all doing well bulking up. Dennis still sucks. Showing lots of cal def but at least the pk are in check. Decided to simplify the nutes a bit and reduce to trio plus calmag and koolbloom @ 50% recommended. First week with RO water well see how she goes. Thanks for stopping by and happy growin'

Hey guys. This week I've got the whole tent balanced out. I think the RO and FFW have been helping... even Dennis is showing signs of happiness and he hates me. I gotta say it may be too late for Dennis, the yield is gonna be miniscule but hopefully whats there is good smoke. No new signs of cal def. Phos def. But the damage is noticeable. A lot of fading in the lower growth thats stopped for now. Pistilis are starting to darken but I think i should still have about 3 weeks left. Ill start checking trichs this week. Happy growing

Hey guys. These buds are getting nice and fat im really excited to give these buds a taste. The smell has move from very fruity to more earth and skunk but its very strong. Once I can harvest these bad boys the rdwc is going up. I've been building away just waiting on my bulkheads to ship in. Happy growing!

Whats up growmies! This week we learn about fox tailing, the good and the bad. I've never had a plant fox tail but all of the 24k golds started to fox tail at the start of the week. I kinda panicked and thought they were herming cuz that would be par for the course but alas no seeds. So when i knew it was fox tailing I raised the lights and dropped Temps to 74f. The think is all 3 plants were doing it top to bottom so I'm thinking its just in their genetics. Looking at some other 24k gold diaries kind of confirmed this week 8 foxtail trend so its all good. Its not like dreadlocks is more like untamed afro. Dennis the white widow is struggling with cal def again, ph is very sensitive but overall she's looking good. Took some trich photos and I'm thinking another week or 2 so ill start my flush probably late in this week. Thats all folks happy growing!

Dennis the white widow has come full circle and is looking great now. Another few days and she'll be ready for harvest. Nothing but straight water from here on out.

24k gold was a great strain to grow. The only problem I had the entire grow was at week 8 when they started foxtailing which made trimming suck but its just part of their genetics. The smell went from a citrus fruity smell to stronger citrus earthy aroma. The buds themselves were amazing, the foxtail actually made them look better and at their core are tight and solid.

It was a joy to grow. Nice short and bushy, easy to train and come flower time she's a giver. I haven't purchased a scale yet but it think the three plants will net me around a half pound. Probably more ill update when the scale comes in. The only downside is the genetic foxtailing makes trimming a nightmare. Give it a try though its worth the effort because these buds look fantastic

Buds have that classic white widow icey look. Sticky tight buds look and smell delicious. Those batch of white widow genetics were quite honestly terrible to grow. One died in infancy, one hermed and this one was extremely sensitive to nutes and conditions. Keeping up with her temperament was like plugging holes in a dam

I would like to try this strain again in my dwc system to control the nutes and ph a little better. If I do grow the widow again I may try a different breeder because they just felt ridiculously finicky

I've also picked up an Apera PH60 meter that I'm very happy with. I'm currently PH'ing my water & feed to 6.0 as I've been told proper range for Promix PH is 5.8-6.2. If anyone has an opinion on PHing with Promix HP I'd love to hear your thoughts. Thanks!

In the OP I meant calmag week 1 & 25% nutes + calmag week 2. Not sure if I can edit that but there it is... also shy, Dennis and Fred are the white widow the rest are 24k gold

@Ner0z, well the one time I had this problem I was using one gallon plastic pots with amended soil to save time (new baby while trying a perpetual grow) I flushed all the good stuff out with runoff accidentally. Started feeding only super light in weight (fabric pots from here on out) and only 1-2 cups at a time. I added great white I believe I was dealing with root rot from over watering and fked up ph, so I keep a shot glass screw driver and 7.0 liquid to keep that ph pen dialed in perfect. And also realized by 3 nodes they want 3-400 ppm with 5 calmag if it's coco out of the gate with the ro water, and 6+ml of the grow because nitrogen deficiency cause yellowing at the bottom first too and 6.0 ph everytime. I'll post a pic if I still have them of my sour jack this happened to. It will be around Week 3-4ish good luck they r looking great!
