Root rot DWC?

WhyNotA2
WhyNotA2started grow question 4 years ago
Is this the onset of root rot or just normal staining? The tank doesn't smell bad but I haven't used any temperature controls in this bucket. I am intentionally not giving this bucket ice to see what I can get away with going forward. If root rot, 24 hrs of H2O2 and H20? Thanks

It could just be staining but the other roots arent looking stained. Your biggest groupings of roots will stain quicker. Just to be sure, get some hydroguard to protect you from rot. It's especially helpful if your reservoir gets much warmer than 70°F. You could treat with a small amount of H2O2. It wont hurt it. I have the same setup and photos of my roots on my diary. Check it out and you'll see normal staining.

Hello So ideally we want the roots to stay a healthy looking white throughout the entire grow...but this isn't always 100% doable. Are you having any leaf symptoms appearing since this root change happened? If not that's very good and you may have caught it before any negative effects could set in. Doing the h2o2 for now is a good idea but it's usually a short fix...if you don't already use a root product like hygrozyme, root shield etc. Those beneficial bacteria shields you may want to start one up. Because the h2o2 will kill the bad bacteria but it's also going to want to attack your good too. Try the h2o2 and then reevaluate again in a couple days.
