They are just reaching for moisture, nothing to worry about. Once they get established anything above soil will harden up.

I've always gone from root cube directly to 3-gallon pots. I can't compare the difference with transplanting from solo cups because I don't have any experience. Have any of you found a significant advantage to adding an extra transplant? I figure 3-gallon pots aren't THAT big.Roots. Other

Thirsty look - exposed rootsMy plant has been looking thirsty but I know it isn't a water problem. Had another look today and saw some roots were poking through the substrate as I suppose every time I water I'm displacing it!
