Don't top before the 5th node, the root zone is too small and the plant will take too long to recover. A photoperiod can be topped whenever You want, depending ob the number of tops you want.

Once the plant has 5 or 6 nodes, I topped above the 3rd node. Even stripped of nearly everything, the root system should be able to handle it no probs. I followed these Mainlining tutorials and I was quite happy with the results. Heya! I have always had best success topping at nodes 4 or 5. I find the first couple primary branches that grow under where it’s topped, end up growing massive in the end. Cheers and happy farming
