Yeah what you're doing evens out the height but it really all depends on what you want your end results to look like. Keeping them totally even NOW is less important than when you're halfway into flower and you're managing colas. That's when even light distribution pays it's dividends. Do you plan on topping any of them down the road? If so that will even things up real quick. When training you also have to keep your light footprint in mind. If you measure ppfd or look at the charts for your light, the most intense light will be a circle in the center typically with weaker light along the edges. When training keep that in mind and try to encourage more tops to take advantage of that light without overcrowding it. The stuff on the edges will grow but not as robust....so you want secondary branches out there not primaries.

I can see you are already doing it my friend. low stress training is a very good tool you can also use high stress training methods like topping and FImming there are many many methods for controlling plant growth i know the youtube channel indica institute has some really cool videos on training some really good advice. I would advise traing your plants around the pot in a circular motion this way you will maximize your side branching and will eventully create a nice canopy of bud sites or you can grow a plant in a spiral around some growing stakes that will do the same thing but also create a vertical structure as well as a horizonal one. the world is your oyster when it comes to plant training best of luck im sure youll do great :)
