Yeah what you're doing evens out the height but it really all depends on what you want your end results to look like. Keeping them totally even NOW is less important than when you're halfway into flower and you're managing colas. That's when even light distribution pays it's dividends. Do you plan on topping any of them down the road? If so that will even things up real quick. When training you also have to keep your light footprint in mind. If you measure ppfd or look at the charts for your light, the most intense light will be a circle in the center typically with weaker light along the edges. When training keep that in mind and try to encourage more tops to take advantage of that light without overcrowding it. The stuff on the edges will grow but not as robust....so you want secondary branches out there not primaries.
